If you really want to know, she wrote a book on about herself. Im sure she states them in the book.
She was awarded the “Australian of the year” by the government. Somebody tell me why she should get the Australian of the year award when there are countless of volunteers, doctors, nurses, teachers etc etc sacraficing their own time and money for the benfit of others, while this little grimy teenager gets the award for sailing a fucken boat.
Yes, it is an achievement, but its the same as anybody else that has achieved a sporting accomplishment. A sporting accomplishment does not benefit anybody except for the person that achieves it. Am I going to win “Australian of the year” next year because I finally squat 400 lbs?
To me the whole thing is a scam perpetuated by the government and the media.

I can’t believe I actually agree with the Bird

Are you actually comparing squatting 400lbs to sailing around the world solo?
You consider these to be of a similar accomplishment?

Not at all. I just think, or hope, that there are other Australians who have done much more throughout the last year to help others than sailing around the world solo. The girl’s accomplishment is amazing, but it’s a bit self-serving. I understand that her achievement may inspire others in Australia to strive to tackle challenges, and God knows that shithole of a country needs whatever motivation it can get, but I think there are many, many ways in which other Australians have directly made extraordinary efforts to help others who NEED help, and whose efforts to do so have inspired others to similar accomplishments.
It seems to me that any inspiration this girl helps foment is simply a byproduct of a largely self-serving accomplishment that 99% of the country will never have the chance to even dream about matching due to the requisite wealth needed to sail regularly.
I don’t doubt that there are a lot of Australians toiling away in anonymity trying to help people who really need assistance, and to me those are the real heroes.[/quote]
Yer, what DB said (I cant beleive I am agreeing with this douche).
What annoys me even more is that if her surname was Stravokanis, Giordano or Ng, then nobody would even know she existed. But because she fits the stereotypical Aussie girl with sunburnt freckles on her face, she is made the “fucking Australian of the fucking year”.
I am going to kill someone.

How 'bout you start with yourself?
