W7D1 BBB Challenge OHP. 120 for 1 but…i ripped 3. I had 5 for sure. I hate OHP cause i suck at it but I’m suck less at least now. I’m getting stronger. Submax lifting gets it done. I’m very happy. Bench 145 for 50. Then I did some curls to failure and a curl finisher. Did some CGBP superset with Decline Bench just. Some face pulls instead of the rear delt raises and swings. Trying to get my walking in. Need to keep it up. Weight is up to 208.

All in all bench and press has gone up. Squats may need some help and I may need to bump up my deads weight. I think thats gone up quite a bit. I haven’t struggled for a rep on deads in a mminute.Rambling on but my last squat session was easy but just so boring I didn’t think anything of it. Just happy with reps and weights that keep moving up and up.

Really think I can contribute Mark Rippetoe with the recent changes in my Pressing. Dude just explains stuff well. It’s probably not how some do it. @Alpha has a good OHP video too, but this video of Rippetoe explaining the main movements just stuck out to me.

W7D2 Deads BBB Challenge. Top set 390. thats all the weight I’ve got. Need to go pick some 45s up. Makes me happy to spend money on more weights. Would love to pull 405. I feel 405 was there anyway. Was supposed to pull 325 and that was it. But that moved like nothing. Didn’t need straps or mixed grip. So pulled 365 not much there and previous PR. So then said screw it and pulled all of it. It stalled toward the top just because it finally felt heavy and forgot what the hell I was doing. Thats a good feeling though and now that I know it won’t happen again. 145 for 50 squats. Left knee was being a wuss so threw the sleeves on and that went away. Ab rolled x 50 supersetted with banded ohp again. Seems to be working so keeping it up.

Weight is 208 and moving up. Just got to get some sleep. Weather has been phenomenal. Normally wouldn’t do 3 days in a row. Especially working up to some heavy singles (for me). But its getting hot by the end of the week so taking advantage. Plus…these heavy lifts are giving me a bit of a mental lift. Running with it.

W7D3 BBB Challenge. Bench. 205 top set. 75 for 50 presses. Shoulders are hanging tough. Really making rear delt priority. Pull aparts all the time at work. Rear delt raises and partials then swings x 3 all to failure usually on press and bench day. I am getting stronger no doubt. But have plenty room to improve…seems to have been mainly technique improvements thus far.

So tired today. Came home played with the kids. Sat down to help my 5 yo play Super Nintendo fell asleep for 30. Not even sure how with how loud both kids were. But still got around and rallied. Weight still at 207.

W7D4 BBB Challenge. Squat. 295 top set. Was supposed to stop at 265…not today ladies and gents…not today. I had more room to run too…damn I’m pumped. I’ve been so zapped the last couple of days but still setting PRs like its nothing. I really want to test. Don’t want to go nuts cause I’m old and lift alone…but I really want too. And I’m stupid so probably will. Man what a ride. Progress thats all you can ask. Nutrition is good. Probably need to up cals a bit more I’m stalled between 207 and 208. Up 6lbs I believe from transformation challenge. I lost a bunch of weight in those 3 days I was sick but that came back quick.

Oh yeah hanging leg raises and 50 deads with 185. Did a set of 20 after the heavy squat. Still have a little work capacity issues but looks like its not too bad. Good day. Can’t stop here i may run this through the end of the year. Maybe switch up to another 531 variant. Good stuff.

Deload W8D1 and D2. Deload blah. Its hot. Good time to deload. Boring stuff though. You all know the drill.

Deload W8D3 BBB Challenge. Blah deload bench. Boring. Got a peak at next month…whew the 50 rep sets take a jump. Should be fun.

W9D1 BBB Challenge. Press. Top set 115 x 5. Bench 150 x 50. 50 chins along with arm and rear delt work. I can tell this month is going to be fun. Can’t wait though.

Weight is 210. Need to slow it up a bit but that will be hard today. Kids birthday party. Weight was hard to move at first now its not a problem. Need to condition a bit more. Its just been hot…after lifting I have no desire to do anything more in the heat. Next week should be a bit cooler. If I gain too much more weight my work pants aren’t going on my legs. Seems like thats the area the weight is going to first.

W9D2 BBB Challenge Deads. 315 x 5 top set. 50 of the ugliest squats at 205. Trying to use the belt and brused the piss out of my right side somehow. Those squats after 30 were torture. Its hot and 50 squats like that about made me lose my snack. I’m going to have to forgo my pre-workout snack on squat and dead day going forward. Ab wheel absolutely sucked after squats…i felt good today and those squats sucked the life out of me.

But I did it.

W9D3 BBB Challenge Bench. 180 x 5 top set. OHP at 95 x 50 was a little much after the 2nd set. Couldn’t do a full set of 10 after. So I dropped to 90. Not a good sign hopefully just a bad day. BoR x 50 banded 135. Arm stuff.

W9D4 BBB Challenge Squat. 245 x 5 top set. Stupid bar kept sliding down my back. Can’t wait for the Texas power bar to show up. This cheapy bar has no knurling at all. Its smooth. The squats were easy. The 50 DL at 260 had me dreading this workout but not until that last set was I really gassed. So it wasn’t bad at all. Weight is dropping but I figured it would take some more calories this last month. Challenge aaccepted. Gained up to 210 and it slid back down to 207. Nothing more food won’t fix. I can tell I need to eat more this week I’ve been sore as hell. Those 50 squats tore up my adductors. I’m walking funny as hell.

Trying to plan out the Committed challenge. Definitely want to run BBB Beefcake but after that I’m not sure. I’ve been wanting to do SGSS for a minute but i have also wanted to try the 4 day a week WS4SB. Definitely diving into the strength a bit more. I figure you probably need more strength for size that and I like to see weights actually progressing.

I’ll probably run Beefcake for 6 or 7 weeks if you count the deload/test, but I’ll run the first 2 cycles back to back and then probably run the 7th week deload/test. Not sure if I’ll test before I run whatever I choose next. I probably should properly deload. Then I could just run SGSS until the end of the year. That’s what I think I will do.

W10D1 OHP. 115 for 3 top set. Bench 150 for 50. 50 pulldowns. Poundstone curls, decline reverse grip bench on powertec, and rear delt rows ss with swings.

Biceps are still sore from doing poundstone curls yesterday. Just got to 60 before I had to break. I’ll do these more frequently.

W10D2 DL. 335 top set for 3. Squats 205 for 50. Ab wheel 50. Squats were murder. Deads were easy. Did it beltless and that was probably a bad idea for the squats. Anyway, stressful week and glad I got this in. Hopefully it gets better.

W10D3 BBB Challenge Bench. 195 x 3. 50 presses at 95. Arm stuff. I am getting wore out this week. Work has been nuts. I’m tired. Pushing through. Weight is down and up. Work has been messing with my eating. I finally straightened it out. Ready for the weekend.

@dagill2 Reading over Forever again. God is a Beast he recommends for 2 leaders and then the God is a Beast Anchor. Are the 2 leaders 4 months? Or is it just 6 weeks (og 531 2 cycles)? I am thinking of running God is a Beast for 2 leaders then the Anchor and if there is time BTM to finish off the year for the committed challenge, but if it’s 4 + months with the anchor maybe just run God is a Beast. Trying to pick a good 531 template and Beefcake, BTM and God is a Beast all sound great.

I don’t have Forever so I can’t give you any advice on any Forever templates I’m afraid. @garagerocker13 or @T3hPwnisher are your guys for Forever guidance.

I’ll have to re-read the book, but knowing Jim’s writing style, it’s probably just 6 weeks worth. 4 months straight of the same program doesn’t seem right.

I bet your right. At least it makes more sense that way.

That’s what I was thinking too. Generally Jim makes sense so I’d call it good. Good luck to you, that program is a lot of work!
