Its about somebody overcoming adversity its just better then your run of the mill one cause of good acting and writing

Last night I saw Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Li…

That movie was terrible. I noticed that when they showed some of the characters growing up, they started out as Chinese( or asian) ie Chun Li and Bison, but turned into white people as they grew older, that was pretty funny. Baby Chun Li, her chinese was pretty good, but White Chun Li, horrible english accent.

What a horrible movie.
LOL.

That is what I worry about happening to Avatar The Last Airbender.

I watched Leaving Las Vegas again the other night.

I mean it came on, and it, IMO, is Cage’s best performance. Plus Liz is a total smoke show and the movie is well done.

I remember being 17 or 18 the first time I saw it, and obviously not getting it. I remember being all like “He’s the man, that is the right way to go. Blah blah blah. God damn the hooker is hot.”

Now, it’s just depressing, and prevents me from bringing a single drink to my lips for like 3 weeks. I have pity for both characters for the entire film now. There isn’t one single moment in that film that is sexy to me.

Honestly, it is an amazing film IMO, depressing as hell, but amazing just the same.

(Sorry if this was brought up two pages ago. I didn’t read the thread.)

Braveheart - Damn what can you say about this movie. Too many good scenes and lines to mention. It just finished on regular TV, the final scene where Hamish throws the sword into the ground. Makes for some good stuff.

I watched Taken the other night. It was “okay”.

;/ I loved Taken. Liam Neeson could have been an awesome Bond, imho. A little old now, maybe, but I wouldn’t throw him out of bed.

I saw Children of Men yesterday- which was not even close to what I expected. It was amazing- well directed, timing was incredible, I never knew what was going to happen next, but it is a tad bit on the depressing side. Nevertheless, I highly recommend it.

28 Week Later was awful. That’s all I have to say about that.

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen… went to the midnight show then again the next day, that movie is amazing. Don’t listen to the critics, they’re idiots for wanting more plot. It’s a movie based on a cartoon about robots blowing each other to shit. To say there wasn’t enough plot development here is like saying Romeo and Juliet doesn’t have enough action. IMO the plot was pretty decent too actually. Oh, and Megan Fox is in it that helps too.

Maggie Gyllenhaal(fuck it) is the worst thing ever.

This man know what he’s talkin’ 'bout!

After watching this almost every day now for 2 weeks (the kids like it) I also don’t buy Dent losing his mind because Gyllenhall got kilt.

I know something has to make him snap, but when he sets out to kill Gordon’s kids to make Gordon suffer like he’s suffered…it gets comical to me now…Gordon’s been married (we can assume) long enough to produce offspring that look to be 8-10 years old…he’s in (as far as we can tell) a committed relationship with his wife and he’s a dad…

Dent meanwhile dated some irritating (from almost the first scene we see Dent and her together in the court room she’s bitching at him about being late, trusting things to a coin flip, etc) woman for roughly a year (I’m basing the time frame on when the Joker asks the mobsters whether their money getting locked down could’ve happened a year ago which is the same time Batman appeared on the scene, so I’m assuming it’s been a year sincer Batman Begins ended and I think Wayne was ‘with’ the Gyllenhall equivalent at the end of Batman Begins and Dent wasn’t) so…Dent bitching he’s lost ‘everything’ doesn’t stand up.

Damn it, Spock, quit dissecting the movie content like a frog in biology class. Yes, Gyllenhall should have been replaced with…hmmmm…someone like Jessica Biel. That way, we ALL would have cried when her fine ass died. But please, please don’t act like that movie wasn’t written well.

Absolutely perfect? Hell, has any movie ever been perfect?
I’m with Sen on this one. Dent loses his soul over an ugly whiny bitch who was banging Batman a few months back? I don’t buy it. I’d have to be hanging by a thread already if Mags’s death put me over the edge.

But let’s not pretend the film is anything but a backdrop for Aaron Eckhart’s chin.

While I sort of agree, I would have to say that the fact that he had been horribly and irreversibly disfigured probably went a long way to have him “hanging by a thread”. It would have been more believable if it had taken months and not hours, though.

Awesome fucking movie either way though.

Agreed.

I saw Remember the Titans again last night. I cry from about 20 minutes into the movie until the end. The only part that fucks it up is when the fat guy tells Coach Boon he’s eligible for college…just too cheesy even if it happened like that in real life…having been lucky (not necessarily talented) enough to play on a state champion football team my senior year in HS makes the movie hit home real hard…there…I made this post all about me !!

Agreed. The man lost half of his face and all of the feeling on that side of his body. I would think something like that alone could put someone over the edge. I’ve seen soldiers with half their face blown off and, trust me, you don’t just get over that.

it was ok. nothing special.

Chinatown - been meaning to watch it for a while. i enjoyed it. i liked the style.

Drag me to Hell - real good fun.

The Kite Runner - not bad at all.

Night Train - Sucked, but man Leelee Sobieski really had ‘developed’. I guess I just never noticed before. Also, this is the second movie I’ve seen with Leelee Sobieski where a dude hits her (The Wicker Man being the other one).

Inkheart - Interesting concept, but really poorly executed. Very boring in parts. It’s a Brenden Fraser movie though, so I shouldn’t have been surprised.

Confession of a Shopaholic - I like Isla Fisher and I understand that an actress needs a paycheck, but this movie was really bad, even for a rom-com. Dumb and not funny AT ALL.

Down and Out in Beverly Hills - Never got around to seeing this until this weekend. Maybe this movie doesn’t hold up well over time, but this did nothing for me at all.

Mad Men: Season One - I tried to get into this show, but after 2 episodes I was done. I fell asleep 5 minutes into the third episode.

Transfomers: Revenge of the Fallen - I liked it for the most part and it was entertaining, but I have my complaints about a few things. I guess we’ll see what happens by the third one. The IMAX scenes are amazing though.

Moon - I really liked this. It wasn’t quite what I was expecting, but I thought it was a interesting story and just really well done. For those that have seen the trailer, there nothing remotely close to HAL and 2001 about it.

He didn’t seem to care that much. RACHAEEEEELLL! OOOOoooOOOoooOOOHHHHHH! AAAAaaauuuaagggghhh!

I watched Gattaca this morning. Great film and touches on some ideas I’ve had in my head lately.

Sex Drive - Absolutely ridiculous. Loved it!
Watched that last night and then again this morning. That movie is fucking hilarious and completely under-rated.

I agree. It was awful. Almost turned it off, but figured I’d watch it all to give it a shot. Nope, sucked

The Unborn - a lot of stupid jump scares that never made me jump. Not as entertaining as Drag me to hell.

The Haunting In Connecticut - A little bit “scarier” than The Unborn, but still stupid( wtf is up with all the recent horror movies, they suck… The only decent one I have seen recently was the remake of Friday the 13. That movie had a very good intro).

Knowing - Interesting movie, kind of reminded me of The Day the Earth Stood Still.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - Amazing what a bit(or alot) of makeup can do. I really liked this movie, and while its fairly long, its not uncalled for.

Role Models - A few laughs, nothing great. The movie basically revolved around dungeons and dragons.

We own the Night - This movie got off to a really good start with Eva Mendes tits, or tit I should probably say. Actually I was really enjoying the first half of the movie, then it just became a typical cop and villian movie in the last half. Still enjoyable though.

Thank God. I didn’t want to derail this thread arguing over it, but for a minute there I thought I was crazy.

I liked the wrestling bits - interestingly gruesome at times (I imagine some, if not all, of that shit went on back in the day), and Mickey did a good job of playing someone you really wanted to see still standing at the finish line… I dunno, everything about it seemed promising, but at the end of the movie (after a few key scenes I don’t want to spoil) I was left thinking “are you fucking kidding me”?

Worth the watch just to see what the fuss was about. I guess I was just expecting too much.
