22 Bullets - Jean Reno heads up a Gallic revenge thriller about a reformed mobster who can’t quite escape his past. The first six minutes or so set the bar high - really high, but the rest of the movie never quite follows through on a very promising opener.

It has a lot in common with Taken (Luc Besson produced both), and though 22 Bullets doesn’t quite match up, it’s not far behind…
After the Professional Reno just has never made something close to that.
True. The Professional is still Jean Reno’s best. But 22 Bullets is as close to a return to form as you’d get. I can’t help thinking that they held back with the revenge motivation though.

Charley (Reno) built up a respectable life for himself, but if this movie really pulled out all the stops to tear that down, this would have been a worthy challenger to Taken and even The Professional

P.S. knowing what your occupation is and having read some of your experiences, you’ll probably yawn at the opening ;)
Well cool and I hate to ask, but I cant get on Netflix at work (Why I have no clue) is it on Netflix or is it a new movie?
New enough to rent. I don’t/ can’t really stream movies so it may not be on Netflix. It may be under either L’Immortel or The Immortal.
No worries got home and found it but it has yet to have a release date. In Que
10-4. I still haven’t seen The Man from Nowhere…I’ll get to it in time but my rental service is dodgy at best (looong story).
Cool I know you love movies I figured you would let me know when you see it.

In Iraq, running out of choices:

Wrecked- Adrian Brody, weird, boring, too tired to realize the point.
My Bloody Valentine- Way better than I thought it would be.

hearing you guys talk about The Professional makes me want to go dig it out and watch it … if only for the scene where Gary Oldman executes motherfuckers to Beethoven … awesome

For you guys who love The Professional, there’s an extended cut that’s about 20 minutes longer available. This cut is titled Leon. Thta’s the version that was seen in Europe originally I believe. It’s a better movie IMO

Also, saw The Man From Nowhere. It’s good, not great. The climactic knife fight is amazing, but there was some shmaltzy stuff that prevented it from being a better flick.

Also, look up the trailer for an upcoming film called The Siege. It played at the Toronto Int’l Film Fest. The trailer is sense-boggling.

Saw Faster a couple weeks ago. I thought it was just going to be your standard revenge flick with lots of killing, but it actually turned out to be better than I anticipated. I would have liked a better explanation as to what his tats meant and why everyone was so scared of him after they saw them though. I still don’t get it.

Watched The Adjustment Bureau last weekend. I liked it a lot, though it was a little sappy. The whole cast was great, especially the guy who played Thompson (Terence Stamp) and Emily Blunt (played Elise).

He was a “ghost”. It means they tried to kill him but couldn’t. The tats were Samoan and meant “don’t fuck with that guy”.

I really liked that movie. I thought the preacher scene sealed it…because it became more than a “revenge flick” at that point. I loved the fact that he only had like 5 lines in the whole movie. he played the role of someone fucked in the head on a mission perfectly.

I could have done without the cop’s scenes completely though. the OCD assassin with the million dollar bank account was done about as well as could be expected given his limited time on screen.

Can you tell I’ve seen it about 10 times?

Yes we can tell.

I agree however my expectations were for that total revenge and kill. They did a good job actually putting life into him at the end.

Saw First Class (wife actually bought Blue Ray from Wal Mart) have to say I thought it was the best one by far.

Spoiler

Love the scene were they go into recruit Wolverine and he just says Fuck Off.

Billy Bob’s scenes were necessary for the twist to work. Otherwise it would have just been “who the fuck is this guy and why do I care?”

I liked his scenes and the movie in general because it did a decent job of humanizing most of the bad guys instead of just portraying them as complete monsters like most revenge flicks do.

I only saw it once but will probably watch it several more times when it comes out on the movie channels.

I can agree with that…but his scenes slowed the pace of the movie down. if you basically fast forward to all scenes with the car in it, you will see one great action movie.

And yeah…I LOVED THAT CAR.

Johnson needed this movie after the absolute kiddy, ghey ass HORSESHIT he did for Disney. I know those probably helped his acting range but come on he was supposed to take the mantle from Arnie.

He’s 100x the actor Arnold ever was. But you’re right he wasted a LOT of time on some bullshit. I’m guessing he just wasn’t getting offered anything decent otherwise?

I think Disney just fucking “Showed him the money”.

Man has got to eat.

Yeah, Faster was a decent flick.

anyone up for seeing that POS looking robot/Jackman movie, LOL

AbsolutelyfuckingNOT.

The whole thing where he is jumping away from the robot and striking it. I mean a fucking 10 year old kid would know this has to be the fucking stupidest fight move of all time.

The Rock signed a multi-picture deal with Disney - that’s why he was stuck in kid-friendly territory for so long. It’s also the reason he went back to WWE when his contract was up.

Okay friends bought me ticket to see this tonight, all I got to do is buy some refreshments.

Does Deniro elevate this movie or is he just doing shit to mail it in now?

I’ve seen 20+ commercials for this and see have zero clues as to what it’s actually about. I assume the same is true for all the actors IN the movie.

Just saw Drive

What a fucking bizarre movie. Not sure what they were trying to portray with Ryan Gosling’s character. Movie just didn’t gel for me. The dude from Malcolm in the Middle put in a good performance though. Some bits were brutal, some were ridiculous. Nearly walked after the first hour, some really confused filmm-making right there.

Not a bad movie(second half much much better), but as I said, a bit bizarre.

Beware of the Gonzo - Im a sucker for underdog high school flicks, this was one of those just smarter.

Bridesmaids - I was going into this thinking of female version (sort of) the hangover maybe not as crude. It started off pretty funny, Im a fan of Kristen Wig and Maya Rudolph but unfortunately it took a turn for “romcom” and chick flick during the second half.

My Idiot Brother - Im a big fan of Paul Rudd, if you like him youll like this movie.

I finally watched Bridesmaids this weekend too. It was an alright movie, but all the hype I had heard about it left me disappointed, since I didn’t even think it was better than the Hangover 2.
