Not to step in on a good thing - How much for the briefs? I am 233pds and never wore briefs - does it depend on thigh/butt size or where would I measure to see if they would work.
Let me know if we can work something out.
Btw good pulling with the chains. Man if I brought out chains and started attaching them to the bars people would loooooook! Yeah I train at less than optimal gyms.
Fischer, they would fit you probably just right but check out the sizing chart on Elite. They are the Ace Pro Briefs. Usually run about $200. I will sell you them for what I just paid for them. They literally are brand new, the guy I bought them from decided to quit squatting right after he ordered them. Said he tried them on, that was it (and I doubt that now). I got them up to mid thigh, no go. $120 shipping included.
actually Fischer, the sizing chart doesn’t seem to include these on Elite, or I am missing it. Let’s do this, you PM me you thigh size, and hip size. Or post it here. I can guaruntee you your ass is smaller than mine. My thighs are right now probably the smallest they have been in years, but that means they are measuring circa 28 inches.
And BTW on the chains, that is the great thing about training in at where I am now (at least twice a week). If I don’t do something like that I am considered a pussy.
side note, one of the guys I train with is currently training for what is probably the biggest unequipped meet being held in the very near future. Unbelievable numbers this kid is putting up. Will talk about more later:)
Thigh size 26.5 - As of now no direct thigh work for 3 months due to groin issue.(that is changing this week)
Hip size 42.5
waist size 36.75 after 6 meals at close to midnight.
So by looking at the numbers:
So my legs are a size 54
hips size 52
waist size 46 WTF ?
The reason I posted the commentary after the numbers is to try and help you figure if they will fit me right now and in the future. I will be dropping close to 15 pds and the hips and waist will get smaller.
Rick
Edit: just figured out what they meant on the sizing tips I should be in a size 54
25 minutes elliptical. Toddler struggles made it last 40 minutes.
Fischer, these briefs would fit you, but before we proceed I will state these are ‘a lot of brief’. Not that they won’t work for you, but if you are just looking for some hip/groin support you might be fine with a pair of powerpants from Inzer for $30 or thereabouts. Let me know what you think. I don’t want to sell you something that you are unhappy with.
Eco, I already have many, many pictures of you on file. I use them when I need to get to my ‘happy place.’
It will take at least 2x bodyweight squat to get to parrellel in them. Probably about 550 in reality though. These are designed for hitting the heaviest possible squat. A lot of guys I talk to claim to get more carryover from their briefs than from their squat suite, when using the Metal Pro line.
Thanks for the info there. Holy shit you can’t get 500 in the hole with them. Wow. I ordered per your suggestion the Powerpants from H.O.P… good guy on the phone helped alot. I told him my sizes and he said yep we can help.
thanks again.
When we are going to train together or see you at a meet?
Glad to help Fischer. Not sure next time I am going to be down in Chitown, with everything we got going on. My next meet is up her on Feb 20th. Having so many complications on the squatting, between gear and injury, that looks like I will push/pull.
Just got back from the gym. Figured the deads last night didn’t hammer my back enough, lol.
Ghetto TBars: worked up to 7 plaate + 25 for 7, then 7 plates for 11.
Shrugs worked up to 695 x 6 w/straps
hammer pulldown 5 x 10-15
bb curls 4 x 6-10
hammer curls 70s x 8, 95s x 6
21s, 1 set w/95 lbs
machine curls 4 x 15
face pull/cable abs/standing calve circuit 4 x 12-20 each
Hey Kevin, HNY to you too. 6 from meet (assuming that you aren’t talking about baby, that is 20something).
Suddenly last nights pulling and todays rowing caught up with me. Mack truck hit, big time. Funny, cuz none of the pulls felt heavy, but that is a lot of volume off the floor for me.
I haven’t really followed powerlifting for many years. Didn’t realize how much the equipment side had grown. Choosing the right equipment and using it properly has become a very important aspect of the sport. Good resource having guys like you who’ve used the stuff and know the ends and outs of it. Only thing I remember are the Titan squat suits of around 1982. Guess the ace bandages I put around my knees back in the day wouldn’t cut it anymore.

I am having to up my knowledge quickly. I thought I was getting the hang of the single ply stuff but now have delved into the multi-ply. Thankfully I have some more knowledgeable people helping me by the minute. Funny thing is I didn’t think a 5 foot ten to eleven 275lb powerlifter would be that hard to equip, but since I have large thighs, small hips, and enough of a belly at the moment, I am a tricky fit.
Have a friend of mine, a few years further down than me, whose last full meet was in the early nineties or late eighties. When I show him my knee wraps he just says ‘damn’… but the thing is they don’t do shit unless you a) know how to use them and b) are willing to deal with some pain in using them.
