Monkeying Around

Nice work.[/quote]

If rep 3 was fugly you probably had to work a little for it. Maybe not so cheap?

looking pretty solid…
that is a big floor press.

I like the front raises - with a plate- or both shoulders moving together
side raise however kill me.

Pete, still looking strong. I’ll be buying a bottle of Jim Beam this Friday for vacation next week. I still can’t do just ice like you big dogs. I need a little ginger ale or coke.

Eco, enjoy your vacation, I am kind of jealous. Usually this time of year we are preparing for ten days out in Michigan, right on the ‘3rd coast’. We decided to forego the trip this year and save a few bucks, but right now my sanity could use the break. The trick with the Beam is through it on the ice in a nice open rocks glass, and let sit for 5 or 10 minutes, then sip and enjoy.

Last night 1 mile dog walk. Legs were really tight from the previous days activities.

This a.m. 30 minutes elliptical. Need to quit hitting the snooze four times every morning if I am going to get to 40-45 minutes consistently.

Sat up too late reading last night. It hit me when I got to the gym. Oh well, it is only an assistance/garbage day.

Bent rows 3 sets of 12 w/315. I did these super strict today, mainly because I wanted to place as little stress on low back as possible. DE lower tomorrow.

Some new fangled pull down machine: worked up to the whole stack for 10 reps. Won’t be using that one again.

V grip pulldowns: 3 x 12-15

Preacher curls: 3 x 12

Alt cable curls: 3 x 12

External rotations: 4 x 15

Race pulls: 4 x 10

Cable abs: 4 x 10

I like that.

IF you go to the Rippetoe starting strenght forum he has a TON of stuff like that…

someone asked if they could leg press instead of squat, and he said sure but it would be gay.

After work yesterday had the good old yard work GPP: mowing, weeding, etc. It has been dry here all summer, up until the last couple of weeks. Now with the rain that has come through everything is growing like crazy, hard to keep up with.

This a.m. same boring 30 minutes elliptical. Pace was better than it has been, and worked up a good sweat.

Its great that you’ve been so committed to the cardio workouts. I don’t know how you get up and jump on that damn thing. Very impressive Pete.

Thanks Eco. I simply look at the alarm clock with a fowl glare, then think to myself ‘get up, fat ass’. It’s been working for me.

my GPP has been hanging drywall and replacing the front cyclinder head gasket in my Harley. does that count??

I find that after a pack of smokes and a 12 pack of beer my heart rate is right in my training zone. Does that count as GPP?

Actually, when I used to regularly put away beer, smoke cigarettes, and hang drywall I was in pretty damn good shape… I think you guys are on to something.

DE skwattin’: 335 + green bands to 13 inch box: 10 sets of 2, about 30 seconds rest.

For what I pay for my upscale, high fulutin’, fancy pants fitness club, they do a horrible job of managing the heat. It was hot and sticky as all hell in there, by the last two sets I was soaked and seeing stars.

Close stance GMs: worked up to 285 x 8, 10 lbs over last week.

one legged leg press: 4 x 12-6. On the last set I could really tell how much weaker my left leg is than the right. 6 about killed lefty, righty still had enough in the tank to do 4 or 5 more.

pull throughs: 4 x 10

leg ext 2 x 20
leg curl 2 x 10

Not sure why I did those… feel the burn?

Oh, wanted to try some speed pulls, but I am still being mr cautious. That will end soon. Need to start doing some sort of DL work again soon, I am feeling incomplete.

a.m. guess what? 30 minutes cardio.

We are doing a run through of all of our expenses right now, as well as changing the little one’s daycare. Looks like we have several opportunities to save much $$… makes me happy. Also, starting next week it looks like we have a long series of houseguests, nearly every weekend for the next 5 weeks. I guess I will live.

Sled work: 115 lbs, 20 minutes of various sprints

hang leg raise 6 sets

ez curls 4 x 6-10

rope hammer 3 x 12-15

db shrugs 2 x 15

band pull apart 2 x 20

calve press 3 x 15

garbage day. the sled sprints did me in though, want to take a nap

last night 1.25 mile walk. between squatting and sled dragging my legs were pretty limp. this a.m. 30 minutes cardio. only planning to work 1/2 day. DE bench around noon.
