A difference I would note between girls and boys is that whether they “respect” it or not, girls will be more polite when someone pulls out an instrument and starts playing it in their presence. They are less likely than guys to ask that you engage in your solitary entertainment while they are not stuck sitting there. I see a male more likely to say “c’mon, let’s DO something.”
Most people enjoy singing along to live music at a party, a guitar or piano or whatever, but I think pretty much no one enjoys being made to sit in rapt attention while a mediocre player either self-soothes or shows off.
As someone who has lived among musicians, it’s lovely to have it playing nearby as long as you can continue living your life with the occasional pause to say “wow, that sounded really good!”
Look, and this goes for @greenboy too, if you watch a lot of tv/NFL/whatever and you don’t like the commercials. Invest in a DVR and fast forward through that shit.
I started doing that with football 3 seasons ago and I get through a 3.5 hr game in about 2 or less (if I fast forward through all the stoppages of play as well - you can only listen to Jim Nantz so much doyouknowwhatimsaying?)
The only league I follow all season is the EPL and Champions League. Now that you can catch almost every EPL game with ease on NBC/online it’s easy to follow. I love my saturday/sunday mornings.
I know it hasn’t taken off in the U.S yet, mainly because the MLS and USMNT suck balls. I get it, people still think “ugh, why do you want to watch 0-0 games” which is so far from the truth. I think if we changed the scoring to resemble that of the NFL people would be like “wow most games are 14-7 or 21-14” that’d think differently.
NHL- I watch the playoffs.
NBA- I may watch the finals, and even then I’ll watch only the 4th quarter.
NFL- I used to like the NFL but there’s too many commercials. I can’t deal with it.

that’s not a bad idea, but the commercials aren’t the only thing ruining the sport. The talent level has dropped, the play on the field is sloppy, more reminiscent of college now since hitting is taking a back seat, there’s literally no defense lol
I can’t see this sport lasting much longer on this trajectory. I feel like soon NFL will be relegated to a niche sport. College will still be alive but the NFL as a professional league is going to resemble something more like the CFL.
Games can be lopsided for sure or all out offensive onslaughts … I agree with this … however, I’m a pats fan and their D this year so far is pretty on point man … They hadn’t allowed an offensive touchdown through the first 3 or 4 games.
There are some good d’s but, to your point, the skill levels aren’t evenly distributed for sure…some teams are better at utilizing/acquiring high talent players than others
I hope so … then maybe the sport won’t try so hard to cater to the passive fans with their rules and we can have balanced teams and tough games again … we’ll see
there was a great interview with Bill Simmons (I think it was Mario and someone else) where they said they do not want the NHL following in the NFL’s footsteps because of exactly that.
Too much commercialism when you have to appease to a wider audience. Everything becomes watered down.
Even still, I don’t think the NFL will ever come back to how it was. It’s just too violent. Europeans knew this decades ago, it is why rugby never introduced helmets like that.
It’s already going that way man … no more 2 line passes and some other rule changes over the last 10 years or so have me much more passive of a fan than I used to be…
I only sporadically watch rugby, usually 7s, but I haven’t seen many helmets … maybe in their leagues?
it’s impossible in here isn’t it? I wasn’t serious with changing the scoring you stupid fuck. and calling it EPL is what a lot of people call it here, just like they call it soccer.
I honestly can’t imagine what some of you are like IRL.
Much like thinking women cheat more than men this is demonstrably unlikely as opposed to untrue. We can add them to your list of “I feel” statements we can knock down.
You could maybe make some arguments that long term football numbers may drop because of CTE concerns but that would make your college point untrue.
The NFL is far and away the most popular sport in America. But sure in alternate reality land you in it’s going to be a niche sport anytime.
I suppose next you will tell me the NBA is doomed despite its popularity shooting up.
I blame women for your shitty posts. One of them had you.
The NFL is boring. CTE is a problem that will cause the middle class to stop playing the sport, and younger generations don’t like to sit through 3 hours of commercials. All that will be left is your generation holding it up.
But by the end of your lifetime the NFL will have become a niche sport, you can get back to me then so I can tell you I told you so.
College will probably go down as well, but it will take double the amount of time.
And yes I know the NFL is the most watched sport in America but so what? Horse racing was the most popular sport at one time, then boxing and baseball. NFL came up with the rise of television and it will go down with it.
Talk about douche… dude, you come into a forum called T Nation and rarely ever post outside of politics. Did you ever post anything in regards to Pharma or working out?
Well at least you’re being specific when your talking about things you don’t have evidence for.
Lol you actually think football is in danger of not being on TV? You realize a big part of the reason some people haven’t cut the cord is solely over football correct? I’d love to hear about how something that gets some of the best ratings is in danger of going off a medium that is still widely used. Prepare that butt for some pulling again.
I don’t use anything to add to Pharma. I used to frequent a board where I posted about workout stuff and posted on PWI here because I enjoyed PWI. What’s the proper amount of posting in each sub forum to be cool to you? I actually think it would be better if you posted in politics less.
