Thanks. Probably Sheiko for the next 8-9 weeks leading up to Nationals.

Dude! 85lbs in 10 weeks is sick! You should be stoked over that! However, I do understand where you are coming from, 100lbs would have been even sweeter. At least you were smart enough to walk away from it. It’s just never enough, is it?
Great job again.

Thanks man. You are right…There is no reason to be disappointed, but no, it’s never enough.
Awesome squatting, Modi. Congrats on the huge PR!

I would really have loved to get 635 today, but it just wasn’t there. There was no question. So in my old age I decided to live to fight another day.
It is still freaking massive. I’m sure if you had rested 2-4 more days it would have been there. You will be at your best once nationals rolls around. Big congratulations! I really think you will achieve a 700 pound raw squat in the next couple of years. At which point you’ll be obligated to throw on some cheater gear.[/quote]
Thanks mrodock, I appreciate all the support along the way. Hopefully the Sheiko peaking cycle does the trick.
I’ll take that 700lb Squat. I might even be satisfied with that for a couple of days. And trust me, I use as much cheater gear as I can, while still being considered Raw. I just don’t have the desire to stuff myelf into a suit or a shirt.
Great job grinding out that last squat. A lot of people, including myself, would’ve wussed out on it.
Great job overall, too. Getting through Smolov at your strength level is a major accomplishment. So is a 620-lb squat, of course. I’d be really happy to get there someday.
WOO HOOO!
Sick bro…I’m proud of ya
Bearshark, Free2Be, Alpha, Thanks guys. I guess Squatting often does improve my Squat. ![]()

Thanks rmexico, I wasn’t going to quit. It was harder than I expected, but Smolov has taught me to grind out the heavy reps.
Congratulations man, that is great progress, ESPECIALLY for someone as advanced as you are.

Thanks. Still got a ways to go though.

Wow. Pretty soon you will have a posse to keep the low-life’s from asking you lifting questions ![]()

Awesome job Modi! This feat will always come to mind when motivation is lacking.
Bastardizing Smolov (Base Meso and Jr) for Bench and Squat is how I tend to want to train now. Lifting often by cycling the intensity and volume rocks as it works for me.
Now, if it would only for for the Deads.
That’s just insane… amazing work bro. Especially considering how high your squat was already.
So, was it worth it??
Damn 85 lbs in 10 weeks- talk about your Smolov success story!
I take it you used to train with Matt?

I’ll volunteer!!! I’d prefer the title “Modi’s lackey” for the record.
Shit, too eager?
That’s not even 2.5xBW. Not really impressive.
lips quiver to fight back tears
I just saw the log at elite, that was fucking awesome. Congrats Modi!
Dude, that was awesome. That video gave me chills. You busted your ass, got a huge PR, and it was quite inspiring to watch.
