Modern Monetary Theory: A Primer

Your retort does nothing to my basic argument of the foundation of the union message.

This was in reference to healthcare.

Please describe to me how the manipulation of ingredients affects my ability to have choice. I just don’t see anyway they can do that. Are you saying I don’t have choice and don’t know that I don’t have choice?

I have chosen not to participate in taking heroin. But obviously that is not true for everyone. I also never did Oxy, but a lot of people have. In fact people who never took drugs were prescribed it by a doctor and then became addicted.

Because you are a reader of testosterone you have cutting edge knowledge of an area of interest not shared by a lot of people. You know better. The manipulation of ingredients does not force anyone to buy their products. But once it’s done it can start an unhealthy trend. Advertising and marketing are used to trigger people to buy their products. Just because their advertising and marketing doesn’t catch everyone in it’s web does not mean it doesn’t work well. If it was a failure and didn’t work well, why would they spend the millions they do? Joe Camel was popular and was used to help young ones to associate it with being cool and got young people started on Big Tobacco and their disease promoting products. It eventually was prohibited as a marketing tool.

Would you quit lumping into this category. My dietary knowledge precedes this forum. I have been well versed in the benefits of wise food choices since 1975. I competed in bodybuilding for the last 3 decades of the 20th century. This is not new stuff for me.

Yes! That is the result of educating myself. You are a huge proponent of self education. Why can’t it also apply to dietary education.

We help the masses the most through education.

You are sooooo missing out. That stuff is great.

Its just big painkiller trying to keep us from being happy.

What else in the world could make this guy:

feel like everything is fine?

False. Because he has principles that demand he not make a profit, he has lost much money over the past 20 years of currency trading. Those same principles would require him to continue not profiting from a co-op selling healthy foods. So, due entirely to principles and not incompetence, he can not afford to start a farming collective to produce healthy foods.

You want the public to follow your path? Do you think people don’t believe the so-called experts advice?

And the public is told to look to the paid experts who’ve been educated on the particular subject. What education have the experts been given?

Never said this. Why you won’t let it penetrate your skull, I’m not sure. There is a fundamental difference in making a profit and maximizing a profit w/o consequence.

Have I lost trades? Sure. Who hasn’t? Do I still trade? Yes. It is how I make a living.

This thread is like watching a re-reun anyway.

The MMT came early, but it did go back again to co-ops and not understanding the difference between an “economic model” and a “business model” and picked up stream. The medical stuff, marijuana, advertising… all are now in the same sequence LMAO

I suppose this is where there is a real problem. Educated dietary “experts” are only as good as the best dietary science. What is the agreed best science?

A true dietary expert is a “student” of the science. The best science is continuously evolving and much is not agreed on. For this reason the last group of people I want to dictate my dietary options is the Government. The best dietary science has a history of being terribly wrong.

All this said. You are probably right. The public in general just isn’t interested enough to research the “best” science, all the time knowing it will evolve and be contested almost at every move. They put their lives in the hands of the “experts”, never knowing that there are no “all knowing experts.”

If each person isn’t responsible for their own food choices, who is? (Children excepted)

I do believe there is one dietary certainty. Avoid processed food whenever possible. That alone would cripple some of the companies you detest.

Lol, I can’t with this guy…

Is this the same as the most taught science?

Could be and should be if it is the current science. But there is no way of knowing. The agreed best science might be an outdated science. If there is an ongoing struggle between differing outcomes, we will be waiting for a new agreed best science. There might be two schools of thought as to the best science.

Like not giving people a choice in healthcare and forcing them into government run single payer?
[/quote/}

This restriction of choice was in reference to treatments not health insurance.
Like not giving people a choice in healthcare and forcing them into a “free market” system where it costs about twice as much as everyone else and doesn’t even come close to having commensurate outcomes. At the very least the people who have been forced into this garbage system ought to have their way for a change. If you don’t like it you can move somewhere else-something I’m told. Good luck as the rest of the industrialized world has already figured it out and they call it single-payer.

I just can’t with this guy.

Yes there is a way of knowing. Whatever increases shareholder profits, that is what will be taught and pushed, almost exclusively.

I don’t give a rat’s patootie what the medical schools teach. I do my own research. There is a multitude of dietary information that anyone can access today.

I have zero sympathy for people who need their hand held. If you want to believe everything your doctor tells you, it is a free country. Have at it.

Through the decades I rarely believed anything a doctor told me about proper diet. The only thing I believed he said is when he agreed with what I knew.

It seems clear you believe the world is made up of obedient sheep, never questioning what “educated” people tell them. So be it. Just know that you have heard from one person who does question everything an “educated” person tells me. Ever wonder why the highest educators call themselves “professors.” Someone much greater than me said, “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.”

Just like you and your right-wing talking points. If it wasn’t for propaganda you’d have nothing to say.

And that my friend makes you an anomaly.
