Fuck Amazon, I can’t believe they haven’t installed bathrooms every mile across America for their drivers.
Our very own Joe Biden, wonderful.
I did. Seems a bit of a shotgun blast shot to try and get some money from the worlds biggest retail company as opposed to an actual injury occurring. I am at the very least interested in the case if Amazon doesn’t manage to get the record sealed in some sort of settlement.
Hardly. A close friend worked for UPS where one of the senior members of the union would sleep all night in the van on the cargo ramp. He got paid for never working and they couldn’t fire him because of his seniority in the union.
Only way to really get fried from the UPS union was either to a) not show up or b) show up drunk. And if you showed up drunk, admitted you had “a problem”, you would lose your job (not “fired”) but the company would pay for rehab and still give you a good recommendation for another job.
The whole thing is BS.
You aren’t allowed to speak out against your comrades in the union or you will get written up by the union leaders at your company. I’ve seen this play out many times working with union shops.
And what other delivery services struggle with this?
Then I guess the lawsuit is dead in it’s tracks?
Every delivery and semi-truck driver ever…
If you drive long haul semi - you don’t get paid unless the wheels are turning.
Please go. You do nothing but make accusations.
Fuck off
This is just another topic Zep knows nothing about.

The UAW had workers sitting in classrooms getting paid instead of working directly resulting in Honda and Toyota taking massive market share in America.
Unions are not run well in America.

They settled it for 8.2M, which is pocket change to them. Each driver got like 100 bucks or less probably lmao. The only person that won monetarily was the attorney.
I am not sure what they admitted to, if anything or what was proven. I am assuming this never saw court. No big business wants to take anything like this to court.
The company I am GC for has been in business for over 40 years and has 50-100 active lawsuits at any given time. We have been to court twice over their 40 year history and won both.
Big companies do not go to court against Joe Q Public usually because it is stupid and juries are dumb and will look at the poor little person against the big meanie business regardless of the facts or what actually happened in most cases.
It is not worth the risk of nuclear judgement from the jury.
Most of the problem was from the listed countries…
They were from other countries AND the U.S.
Like I said the problem is systemic.

Was this the only thing won in the lawsuit OR did Amazon have to make concessions to make sure this practice is a thing of the past? Any punitive damages?

Reminds me of a story I watched on TV. A family sued an insurance company for fair market vale of their property 6.4 million. It was a mold issue that mentally damaged the husband and son permanently. The insurance co. offered them, I believe, 164k. After some talking back and forth, the couple sued the insurance co., as they would not budge. The jury awarded them 26 million. If the insurance co. would have just paid them FMV, they would have saved 20 million. Greed is a terrible thing.
Like I said, you can’t even interpret what you read correctly.

I am not sure. I just know they settled for $8.2M.
The jury awarded them 26 million.
No company leaves it to chance with a jury that is smart when big money is on the table.
My guess is in the settlement Amazon admitted to nothing and accepting the settlement had very strict conditions…
That is my guess too, but without seeing the settlement agreement. I can’t say for sure.
Wow Amazon said this. Guess it must be true.
