Yes, exactly.
I’ve had this discussion with many people during this year since it was when I started to realize.
If a man is assertive to a woman, you can get in troubles. It’s ridiculous. We’re talking about being assertive, not demeaning, insulting, aggressive, etc. just assertive.
In Spain is getting to a point where men are brainwashed to think that women should be on charge because they make no mistakes, they are the new overlords (overladies?) and men should shut up and obey.
Some of my friends actually think like that. And I somewhat did too…but I woke up.
It’s the same here. I have friends who changed completely once they got hooked up. Suddenly, it is like they don’t think for themselves anymore. Things are out of balance right now. You can’t even discuss getting testosterone replacement with most doctors…while they will basically hand it out to women like lollipops.
Whether you blame the feminists movement or men themselves for allowing shit to get this out of hand, but I really don’t see this continuing unless the goal is to literally have women walking around with penises.
There is a great book on this topic:
The War Against Boys, by Christina Hoff Sommers
I am surprised TC hasn’t reviewed on here, as it backs up many of the topics he talked about in his articles/book.
Well, heck. Look at that. I should have known – great minds, etc.
I’ve seen her speak. I bet she’d write guest column here.
Non sequitur: going from the observation that testosterone levels have fallen over the past decades to the conclusion that men are less manly these days.
Most of the arguments I have read in this thread are poor at best, ludicrous on average. Sex is defined on a biological level, gender is defined on a societal level, and the latter can change as society changes. What defines a man 500 years ago in a specific society certainly would not do to define a man today in that same society (inherent variability). Still more variable is what it means to be a man among different societies (external variability).
At any rate, some of the traits listed here - big muscles, smoking cigars, fucking women doggystyle - are so inane that no wonder being stupid wasn’t among the list of manly traits.

While it may be true that gender is a social construct to some degree, it works within biological constraints that are most definitely not malleable.
Also, rutting doggy style while smoking a cigar might not be masculine per se, pulling it off with style certainly requires manly qualities.

Ah, very nice. I actually found out about this book when researching for my blog entry. The Amazon reviews seem decent, so I have in mind buying it somewhat soon. I also want to buy this book from a transexual and how higher levels of testosterone changed her behaviour and her track of thought (less emotional, more energic).
