Yeah, that’s how I like it. It may be an affect of training ADD, but when you tell me I’m supposed to squat, bench, and pull in a workout, I get bored just thinking about it. I like having a single objective on my mind during the training. So for today, it was: “bench 275 for reps, rep out 225, then get the 5x5 db.” All focused towards the same end. Plus, with PT and school being hard as shit, I can’t afford to give long sessions the mental energy required to get through them.
Take what I say with a grain of salt; I’m not impressive and haven’t accomplished anything in this sport.

I’m starting to lean towards frequent short-ish sessions for the reasons you’ve mentioned, except I don’t get bored thinking about just benching, squatting, or pulling. Hopefully the whole idea of more practice = more proficiency will come to fruition.

It’s not that the idea of doing one of the lifts in a session bores me, it’s the focus I’d have to apply to all 3. I feel like I couldn’t give them each enough focus and at least 1 would suffer. A lot of my friends here at Clemson train with a more Rippetoe-esque style and do the whole body stuff, and it works for them(and physically it would probably work for me), but I just can’t mentally train like that. I’m really good at getting intense for short periods of time, not dragging it out.
I’ll be keeping tabs on how your higher frequency goes.

I totally get what you mean. I feel like I can mentally focus on two powerlifts at most. If I do a third in the same session, I’m just not into it.
Here’s a vid of the deads from yesterday. Two things to note in the vid:
1)As you can tell, I’m well into my third trimester. Baby Hughie is very healthy.
2)Sweet arm veins. I have no idea where those came from.

Thanks bud, I’m just trying to combat chickenlegitis. The squats felt good, like locked in and very fast. In fact, on most reps, the bar popped off my back near the top.

Very wise of you to take steps towards combating chickenlegitis.

Thanks guys. I’ve never held more than 300 in my hands and I want to get a feel for 315 before I try for it. Any suggestions?[/quote]
If you have bands, you can rev band it where they completely deload at the top? Or do some heavy lockout work off the pins.

Beltless Back Squat 5x315 PR methinks
Beltless 2ct Pause Squat 3x3x275
Ab rehab
I’m pretty dependent on my belt due to the hernia, so I’m happy with today. It wasn’t exceptionally difficult either. Ab rehab is a lot of small, seemingly easy exercises, but I suck so bad at it. The ab stuff makes me sweat like I just ran 10 miles.
