Not much else to add about the Phils. I think DB and SP just summed everything up quite nicely.

And like I said before, on paper means nothing, it’s all about who gets hot in October. If the Giants didn’t prove that in 2010 and the Phils didn’t prove that in 2008, I don’t know what will.

You should’ve seen the comments I received in the last playoff thread when I said the Giants got hot at the right time.
It wasn’t that, it was that you continuously downplayed their talent level and attributed most of their success to them being hot and discounted their talent level as the reason for getting hot. Don’t forget, only really good teams get hot at the right time. When was the last time the Royals or the Pirates got hot at the right time?

Beyond that, if you do believe that getting hot at the right time is a key component to success, why were you still picking against them the whole time?
Because teams with talented players get hot at the right time. The fact that utility player Cody Ross was consistently clutch (2 homeruns against Roy in one game??) and Edgar Renteria hit more homeruns in the post season than all season is hard to predict. Heck, Renteria has been known for terrible defense in recent times, yet in the playoffs he was getting to balls he hadn’t gotten to in years.

Just stare at the trophy rajraj. Yea you like that?

I can’t wait for Brandon Belt. I mean seriously, can you get a better name for a baseball player?

Rusty Kuntz

Radio reporting potential Blanton trade to Texas…

edit: Never mind. They got me all excited speculating on the press conference this morning and it was just an Utley injury update. Douchebags!

See. This is why I generally don’t listen to WIP (particularly in the AM) but no Craig and Boomer this week :frowning:

I really like the name Lastings Milledge

“Chase has had mild patellar tendinitis and chondromalacia in the past that have previously resolved quickly. His symptoms returned during his off-season workouts, and he developed some anterior knee pain consistent with his prior history. When he reported to spring training this year, his knee was treated as it had been in the past, however his symptoms continued. An MRI was obtained that demonstrated his prior tendinitis, chondromalacia, and bone inflammation. His chondromalacia symptoms persisted in spite of focused non-operative care, including a cortisone injection. A subsequent cartilage-specific MRI was obtained confirming the initial diagnosis. Continued non-operative treatment is being carried out and additional opinions will be obtained.”

It doesn’t look good Phillies Phans. I think they have been keeping it quiet so not to lose barganing power in a trade. I love Utley but injuries and declining numbers since 2006. Time to pull the trigger on a Michael Young trade, we have the money to take on that contract it might only cost us money and either Blanton or Kendrick

What do you guys think of Jose Bautista? One season wonder or worth the contract he was given?
He’ll be somewhere between last year’s production and his career average prior to last year.

low-mid 30s home runs if I had to wager.

This basically what every expert has been saying. I think the Changes in his swing are for real and I believe the ESPN “experts” pegged him for 39 this year

Rookie of the year candidates? I think everyone knows who mine is…

Brandon Belt? I hope you’re right. Unfortunately, like I’ve mentioned before, years of frustration, shattered dreams and apathy have left me with a finely-honed sense of impending doom and I simply can’t bring myself to think it’s possible for the Giants to have two rookie studs back-to-back years. My instinct tells me it’s not only possible but that it will prove to be a reality, but my heart tells me don’t tell her your true feelings because you’ll only get hurt like that one chick from Beijing who stole all your money and sold your dog for 15 yen a pound on the black market and you don’t think you’ll survive another suicide attempt and plus the doctor said not to let…huh? What? The Giants are World Champions? Really? Fuck it, Belt for Rookie of the Year. Heard it here first. Second.

No I heard it first a few pages back along with your prediction that Buster Posey will be NL MVP.

It will be interesting to see how the Nats handle Harper after what happened to Strasberg last year.

Where are the Reds’ fans? What’s going on with Chapman? Has he hit 100 mph yet or has Dusty screwed him up already? And what the hell is going on with that law suit?

They should really separate rookie of the year awards into one for pitchers and one for position players.

And I stand by that prediction. I also stand by my prediction that the Braves will compete all the way down the stretch for the division title. I can’t remember who I chose to take the NL wild card a few pages back, but fuck it. I’ll go out on a limb and say that the Phillies take it and that the Braves take the division. You definitely heard that here first.

By the way, do you motherfuckers realize what day is today? We are officially three weeks to the day from the first pitch of the season! 21 days until all is well in the world again!

Seriously can’t wait. I’ve had a couple fantasy drafts already which always get me excited for the upcoming season.

As for the Brewers, they do look good on paper. They did lose Greinke though for the beginning of the season, and you never know how long it will take him to get back into form.

You know, we should all get some predictions down here before the season starts so we can start flaming the shit out of the fuckers who choose the Orioles to take the wildcard or the Astros to take the Central once the season is underway. Division finishes, MVP, Cy Young winner and wildcard winners. I suppose it wouldn’t be inappropriate to get some postseason predictions down now as well. Perhaps even Rookie of the Year and/or Comeback Player of the Year. I already made this sort of list earlier, but I’ll amend it a little and post it here as a starter.

NL West:
Giants
Rockies
Dodgers
D’Backs
Padres

NL Central:
Reds
Cubs
Cardinals
Brewers
Astros
Pirates

NL East
Braves
Phillies
Marlins
Nationals
Mets

Wildcard: Phils
NL Pennant winner: Giants
Cy Young Award: Josh Johnson
MVP: Buster Posey
Rookie of the Year: Brandon Belt

AL West:
Rangers
A’s
Angels
Mariners

AL Central:
Twins
White Sox
Tigers
Indians
Royals

AL East:
Red Sox
Yankees
Rays
Orioles
Jays

wildcard: Yankees
AL Pennant winner: Red Sox
MVP: Josh Hamilton
Cy Young Award: David Price
Rookie of the Year: who the fuck knows?

Padres won’t be last again like everyone predicted last year. That will go to the Diamondbacks.
