MLB Season 2011

Yeah, it’s pretty damn rare these days for a good caliber player to stay with a team his whole career.

Anyone here jelly of the Phillies pitching staff?[/quote]

I think the Phils are going to have more trouble scoring runs this year than they’ve had in the past. Oswalt is not going to run up a 1.74 ERA for them again. Lidge is one year removed from a 7+ ERA. No guarantees yet.

especially when we have a stellar closer to finish the games. Whose jealous now?

West Coast are you listening to the training games? I think i remember DB doesn’t get KNBR out there.

Brandon Belt had three hits and four RBI’s today.

internet high five

Phillies gonna tear shit up this year.

Rumors of Liriano becoming a yankee for Joba and Ivan Nova…nice.

This was posted on the Phillies’ message board but was apparently lifted from the Giants’ board. Still pretty good though

I’m going to take a wild guess that “rumor” originated on a Yankees website. Why in their right mind would the Twins make that trade?

I’d love to trade Jon Lannan and Jordan Zimmermann for Roy Halladay but unfortunately trades require two GM signatures instead of 1.

I answered yes to “I care if my team wins another game” but it never took me to Nationals for some reason

I think I remember Buster Olney saying something about it a while back when Cashman first approached the Twins. Sure, there is always talk about deals, but I think this one is a real possibility. The Yankees have some good prospects to deal. Bastards!!

He is also a free agent and I guess if these rumors have any merit the twins may want to get.something for.rather tham nothing if and when he skips

Stranger things have happened…u know why would any team sign a good but not great outfielder to a 7 year 126million dollar contract? A total mindfuck! But hey it happens

Haven’t had the time to listen to games, but I’ve been reading the recaps at night.

The squad is looking great so far, and it sounds like the Panda is hitting very well. De Rosa should be a great piece to have back as well. I can’t wait for the regular season to get rolling.

Are you referring to the Vernon Wells deal?

It’s because Torii Hunter was given 90 million over 5 years just before that and that’s what blue jays management expected he would get on the free market.

Plus there was pressure from ownership to resign him in order to keep the fans happy. I’m not so sure if the GM at the time wanted to resign him

No I was referring to the Werth deal

You follow the Mets at all? Word is Ollie P pitched 2 shut out innings with a blistering 84 mph side arm.

Its not even fun to hate on them anymore :frowning:

I agree whole heartedly…its so sad whats happening with the mutts…losing a kabillion dollars on the madoff ponzi scheme…no santana k rod beating the shit out his gfs dad jaaon bays flop of a year…it just doezent stop

I agree, the Phils have no clutch hitting to speak of, They’ll wind up with a top 3 offense statistically but they’ll shit the bed a lot when it counts.

We don’t need Oswalt to pitch 1.74 era ball. An era around 3.50 as a 3rd or 4th starter will still be freaking awesome.

Closer may be a problem, maybe not.

Still, when all is said and done, I like the Phils chances this year more than I have in any other year I can remember.
