MLB Season 2011

99 pitch complete game shutout from Cliff Lee tonight. 123 pitch complete game from Halladay last night.

It feels good to be a Phillies fan right about now.

Shit dude I was hoping you forgot about that bet…double or nothin?[/quote]

Ha no way, we’ll have to wait 'til NFL season rolls around though to make the avatar switch.

Can’t wait to have all the regulars back in the football thread.

As far as divisional studs that I like? As a Giants fan, Tulo, Cargo, and Kershaw all fit the bill.

Yeah I think I would pick Kershaw as the pitcher. Second choice would be Lincecum.

Uhh 2 Cy Youngs + a World Series Ring compared to 0 Cy Youngs and nothing accomplished in the post season…

Want to rethink that one?

I’m talking about wanting on my team for the long run. Kershaw is almost four years younger and hasn’t even reached his prime yet. He is also a lefty. I like Lincecum too. I just think if someone gave me the option to pick one to have on my team for possible their career I would pick Kershaw.

Whatever, yall stole Halladay from us. lol

I’m still bitter about that, but hey, I want Doc to win a ring. And Drabek does look promising.

Sounds like Giants fans are becoming “Red Sox West” fans.

I know. C’mon WC, I’m as big a fan as you are, but don’t you think you’re laying it on a little thick now?

HAHA

I’m just glad I wasn’t going to SDSU anymore when the Giants won the world series. There were so many Giants fans at that school, I would have had to hear shit from them.

MFW the Giants do not make the post season.

Ha not at all. If people in here can’t handle people rubbing in wins, than what’s the point?

Obviously such remarks are made in a fairly sarcastic/playful manner, something that any sports fan should be used to.

I view these sports threads as a place where knowledgeable sports fans can talk with one another, exchange some pretty detailed information, and bust each other from time to time.

Considering I’m still riding high from a 2008 WS win, I see where you’re coming from. But your post seemed to reek “I’m nervous the Giants don’t have the best team in the NL, am threatened by the Phils phenomenal pitching staff, and I’m going to show it by boasting about last year’s Giants team”.

Off topic (of WCs totally insecure comment), you guys in this thread really know your baseball.

(Group Hug)

Interesting to see that out of the top 10 highest paid players in baseball, the Yankees account for 3, the Phillies count for 3, and the Red Sox’s count for 2.

I don’t even think the Pirates could afford one of those players and field a full team around him.

Red Sox 2-10 now first team to reach double digit losses.

            :)

So check this out. Today an initial 3 run home run call was overturned and ruled a foul ball (they went to instant replay).

The ball was hit LEFT of the line on the wall and RIGHT of Pesky’s pole.

Should it have been ruled a home run?

Also how retarded is it that the foul line and Pesky’s pole do not line up?

Home run, without a doubt.

To call it otherwise would mean that umpires would have to call any ball that hits all of the space left of the line and right of the pole all the way up the entire foul pole a foul ball. So, essentially, even if a ball hits off of the foul pole 50 feet up it should be called a foul ball (given the umpires call on this ball).

And yes, it’s uber retarded.

I agree.

Also the line on the wall is the same line extending from home plate. Although the pole and the line on the wall SHOULD align, I would think the line on the wall takes precedence over the pole.
