So what’s with the Giants so far? They still hungover from last year?
The Giants 1-4, Red Sox 0-4, yikes. Two pre-season favorites aren’t looking so hot. Granted they both started on the road.
^^ I definitely think Josh Beckett will not be good this year.

I would be if I just won the World Series. Wouldn’t you?
We definitely need to get rid of Tejada and find a replacement for Huff in the outfield, both of them are really hurting us right now.
Tejada is simply awful though, on both sides of the ball.

But you’d think a 1-4 start would be sobering.
I was saying that in the offseason Tejada was a terrible signing. That guy is well past his expiry date.
As for Huff, I’ve seen him play a bunch since he use to be on a couple AL East teams, but do not recall him playing outfield. To make the transition from 1B/DH to outfield is tough. Especially in your mid 30’s.

He played OF for Tampa. ANd it isnt tough moving to RF, especially since he isnt a big lumbering power hitting 1b. WHat is difficult is changing positions with 3 days remaining in spring training.
He’s a huge liability out there. He should not be diving for so many line drives. Hes simply not athletic enough to make most of those plays.
Both Aubrey & Tejada played for the O’s. Tejada wasn’t all that bad, all things considered. Huff was a complete bust.
I probably will will only be able to say this once… So I’m takin’ while I can…
HOW BOUT’ DEM O’S!!!
Kepp your eyes on Zach Britton. He will be schanizzle soon enough.

Oh right, I was thinking about his time in Baltimore.
It’s especially a liability for a team built like the San Francisco Giants who play in a ton of 1-run games and rely heavily on their pitching and defence. Matt Cain and Barry Zito are both fly ball pitchers.
Anyone think the Jays have a chance of competing in the next couple years? Good power, young pitching… Or will the AL East just keep buying their way into the postseason…![]()

In a couple years? YES. In the next couple years? NO.
Their farm is just now maturing and hitting the majors (Arencibia, Snider, Drabek etc)
Once Gose, Lawrie, Hecheverria are up this team will be good.
Probably looking at 2013… this year they will probably win 80-85 games.
Oh and you should watch this:

It’s pretty amazing. Love the video of the Jays playing the first game in their inaugural season while it’s snowing LOL

haha Yeah it’s brutal. Where I’m from up North it’s ridiculous. Just had a snowstorm last week.
And yeah Looks like Drabek had a pretty good first start, hoping for some progress this year.
Definitely don’t expect us to compete this year, but it would be awesome! It seems like every year is hopeless
Wow. Anybody watch the Phillies-Mets tonight? WTF???!!! Very frightening how quickly things deteriorated. Although the Phil’s bullpen isn’t stellar they managed to pull it off.

…
Look at the talent on this team before you jump to NO WAY. It’s very possible this team could make the playoffs next year. More Likely in 2013 but far from NO WAY in 2012.
Sports writers in the US do not follow the Blue Jays very well because they are located in another country. All they see is the Jays lost Marcum, Wells and Buck during the offseason and assume they’re going to tank. But anyone who follows the team closely knows they are loaded with talent (3 top of the rotation guys all 26 and under, Jose Bautista, two 2009 Silver Slugger award winners and a few others).
Oh and last year, everyone in the US was picking the Jays to lose 90-100 games and they went 85-77. Food for thought.
How about this stat. The two teams with the worst Batting Average are Boston with .190 and Tampa Bay with .136. That plus Boston has the worst ERA so far with 8.33. I know it’s a small sample size, but it’s pretty funny so far for a team predicted to win the World Series by many.
The Mets are looking like no pushover! If they didnt have a headcase Like Pelfrey pitching mets could of taken it yeasterday as well.

That’s why I HATE Blanton. Anytime after the 4th inning he is susceptible to implosion. When they picked him up we were told he was an “innings eater”. 3 years later and I have yet to see it.
With this rotation, the Phils shouldn’t need an outstanding bullpen. In a majority of the games, we should only need it for the 8th and 9th inning. I’m more excited that it looks like we might actually have a decent bench this year.
The Rays are going to continue to suck until Evan Longoria gets healthy which is looking like Mid-May.
It’s unfortunate that even when the team is championship calibre the fans still don’t support them. If they did Carl Crawford would still be a Ray.
