So how many games do you think Brett Lawrie should miss for his actions?
Not defending his actions, but the ump absolutely butchered two straight calls.

Who’s talking about the Dbacks?

The youtube link doesn’t show the first pitch, but you get to see a fan throw his beer at the ump.
Two horrible calls, first pitch looked 6 inches off the plate. the second pitch was high and possibly outside. Absolutely brutal too, 9th inning and a 1 run game.
He’s suspended 4 games, is appealing.

He should be suspended for at LEAST 4 games. I didn’t see the first pitch either. But the second one looked high and away, but not THAT high and away. Plus, he showed up the ump the previous pitch. I’ve seen waaaaaaay worse calls than that handled with a lot more class and dignity. The helmet-throwing part of it is absolutely uncalled for, especially given that it’s a game in the middle of fucking May.

Bad calls, but his reaction was seriously uncalled for. Gotta keep your head.
I agree, I was expecting 7-10 games.
If you guys want to see the first pitch the mlb link has the whole thing.

hopefully no one, this is a painful season.
So what’re your guys thoughts on the SF Giants reaffirming their territorial rights on San Jose?
The Athletics are absolutely dying in Oakland.
For the people who find sabermetrics interesting
Trends in hitting by position.
Interesting to see such a sharp decline in SLG% at 3B and LF since 2006. Yeah steroids explains the general trend but 3B and LFs declines are much more pronounced.

I’m a Giants fan and even I think it’s pretty bullshit. Just let them move down to San Jose. It’s the biggest city in the Bay Area so why not give them a team? They’d probably be just down the road from the Niners’ new stadium too.
Oakland doesn’t deserve any pro sports teams. It’s a fucking shithole. The Warriors are probably moving to SF, just down the street from the Giants ballpark, and the Raiders should just get it over with and move back down to LA.
Woo hoo!! The Padres finally got rid of that bum Orlando Hudson. I’m hearing the Giants might go after him, any truth to that DB?

I’m not sure. It wouldn’t surprise me. They have two minor leaguer-caliber players up the middle right now (Crawford at SS and Burriss at 2b) and one more that’s not much better (Theriot). I think they like this Joaquin Arias guy as a backup infielder, but with Sandoval out for another 3-4 weeks and Freddy Sanchez having yet another setback in his shoulder rehab, Arias has had to play a lot more than he should be.
The bottom line is that the Giants’ middle infield situation is so horrific that Hudson would probably be an upgrade if he can just healthy. Can he still play good defense? That’s been killing the Giants up the middle too.

Although I have fond memories of his gold glove calibre seasons in the mid-2000’s the answer is no. He has become average defensively or slightly below based on his statistics.
From the offensive side, he couldn’t hit in his prime and I doubt that has changed.

They moved up to 8.5, so I’m glad. Better than being 10.5 they looked like they were going to go the other day. They have a lot of room to get to the top, that is for sure.

I feel bad for the A’s. They have such a good recruiting strategy, they just can’t keep any talent.
Oh and just to make it abundantly clear, Hudson would be a downgrade at the plate compared to Emmanuel Burriss, Brandon Crawford and
Ryan Theriot.
That’s how terrible a hitter he is

He has been decent this year on defense. Only a couple of errors I believe. He has somehow managed five triples but zero doubles? Weird stat right there.
Can anyone of you guys give me a list of the top 10 starting pitchers RIGHT NOW (aggregate NL and AL)?
