Mixing Whey with Water/Milk

I just started supplementing protein and i was wonder what was the best liquid to mix it with? I’ve heard if you mix it with milk the casein in it will slow protein absorption, but i’d like to hear your opinions on it.

I usually mix it with water after a work out and milk when i go to bed.

Whichever you find most palatable.

Absorption being slowed down isn’t a big thing, and probably a positive unless it’s after a work out, and even then I don’t think there is a huge difference although people will try to tell you otherwise.

depends on goals and timing if you need more calories go with milk, if its post w/o id use water and prob a simple carb source.

i agree, post WO u need protein to get in your system a little faster then other times of the day. i would say use water if u drink a shake in the morning when u wake up and right after working out, all other times its beneficial for the slower digestion.

Summary:

Mix with water within 30min after a workout for fast absorption.

Mix with milk before going to bed to slow absorption throughout the night… because you’re basically fasting while asleep.
