Imagine millions of other paper plates floating around representing millions of other galaxies. Unselfishness, especially for random evil strangers, is wrong. It is especially NOT moral.

Well, you’re fortunate. Though you may know a great many religious folks, you’re still free to feel as if your existence is completely futile.

Now, is sharing your view just a way to kill time until your escape from the futility of your life? Because, if your very existence is–self-admittedly-futile, then we must accept that even you yourself believe that your opinions are an exercise in futility.

If that’s the case, why should we bother considering what you have to say? Your very existence is futile, therefore, everything (thought, word, or deed) originating from you is, by extension of your futility. So, why should anyone here entertain thoughts of which the thinker himself has deemed futile?

After all, you’ve told in advance how you believe others should perceive you. However, if that isn’t the case, and you feel you add something worthwhile and necessary, then your futile existence is no longer such.

“Life if futile. I have no meaning. So, guys, you want to hear my thoughts on a number of issues?”

Inability to accept one’s own insignificance of being?

Well, if that was the case, the Church is doing it wrong. She constantly teaches her followers that they are insignificant and they need to be humble and squash our pride. We do not explain our futility of existing, heck it is in our first book. “You are dust, and to dust you shall return.” Pretty blunt, I think you have some misconceptions as well.

That’s my point exactly. You view yourself, your very existence, as futile. Therefore, you mustn’t expect us to feel otherwise. If anything, it would be rude on our part to treat you any other way but as insignificant. So you are futile. Your views and arguments are futile. How you–and your arguments–are perceived are futile. So, why?

Red Herring, how does my insignificance have anything to do with following what God asks of me and there being only one true God? (Actually there is several ways to get to Heaven, not just following the Catholic Religion, but I do not want to confuse that misconception with this misconception).

[/quote]
I believe in Him because He “favored” me, to use your word. I have not, even in the bible, and may never be given a reason for His favor. You can rest utterly assured that it had nothing to do with my being better or smarter than anybody else.

In my BC days I took up space and squandered every precious moment of life groping for new and innovative ways to serve myself. I was not in any way seeking to become a Christian when I did. God orders everyTHING and everyONE to His own glory by His own definition of what that means.

He neither consults with nor conforms to any standard beyond Himself. The scorn of unbelievers and the praise of His saints are equally made to exalt Him. One displays His holy justice, the other His merciful grace.

There are plenty of questions that I am not given specific answers to. That I know there ARE answers sufficient to Him is the very definition of faith. I refuse to probe the depths of His unknowable being or providence any further than He has chosen to reveal as only sinful folly can result from such insolent presumption.

I prefer to marvel in awe at the fact that He reveals Himself to a rebellious evil creation at all.

Believe me my friend, lol. I know EXACTLY how insanely idiotic that sounds to you.
