Minced Meat vs Whole Meat?

Is minced meat just as good as an ordinary steak in terms of nutritional value? I buy my minced meat at a “real” butcher so it’s just around 3-4%fat instead of the other bad quality minced meat you can buy in the supermarkets around my place.

Isnt minced meat combined with fruit and such ?

I cant say I have ever bought it or seen it sold, but I was under the impression that it wasnt pure meat.

Fruit…? Uhm not the minced meat I buy.

The minced meat I buy is just regular meat which have been put through… well, a meat mincer.

I’m not sure but I believe Westclock is thinking of the filling in a mince meat pie, it usually consists of ground meat and various fruit. If I’m not mistaken by mince meat you are referring to what we would call ground meat in the US.

As far as the quality of your ground meat goes I don’t see any reason why it would be different than the quality of the same cut before grinding.

I’ve been eating a whole package of ground beef after training sessions for the past few weeks. Same nutritional profile, same protein, same fats, easier to wolf down.

Ground beef is amazing.

Ground meat, I see… thought it was called minced meat. (The meat you’d use in a pasta bolognese).

Mincemeat is the stuff that has some meat and lots of fillers mixed in.

Minced meat I’m assuming is just ground beef though I’ve never heard it before.

Yeah he means ground beef. In the UK and Denmark by the looks of things we call ground beef, mince.

Mince Pie fillings are a whole different kettle of fish!

Lean Beef Mince is fine, as someone else said, its the same just minced.

What do you think mincing is going to do to the nutritional profile?

Nothing really, but it’s better to ask and get it right, than do something wrong…

Thanks for the answers guys, appreciate it.

Yes, but eat minced meat soon after you buy it or mince it and cook it a bit more than you would normal cuts of meat.
