MIlitarization of society

Oh, and an addendum - I lived in Austria (briefly). Wonderful place, no complaints. Would buy a home there. But, I don’t haunt Austrian websites whining about Austria’s laws I don’t agree with.

In one country you can get ambushed and abducted by masked men with guns - for not filling out trivial paperwork.

In the other you have deny one of the greatest crimes of the 20th century, (where evidence is rock-hard) again and again, for years, and do it publically in a convincing fashion. Then they will arrest you in a polite fashion. You might not even go to jail for this.

So where would you rather live in if that’s all you know?

Thought so.

Of course, these two factors alone don’t say much, but since you, TB, played the nazi card, like so often, I couldn’t resist.
Dude, he sent a [i] flower [i]!!!

Americans are really, really scared of plants.

You have to realize that there are cultural sensitivities at work here.

…says the man from a country that will send you to prison for the crime of Holocaust denial.

Well done, yet again, Orion.
Really?

Ok:

The holocaust did not happen.

Let us see how long it takes before men in full combat gear take down my door.

My guess is never, ever, but we will see.

Yeah, well, I guess if I lived in a country (and I use that term very loosely) that was wholly insignificant and irrelevant I might spend my time doing what you do here, too.

So, you are forgiven out of pity.
Yeah well, if I had not achieved anything to be proud of my whole life I guess my whole source of self esteem would be a geographical coincidence too.

Whether I would advertise it the way you do is another question.

I’m sure you’ll dismiss this all as lie, but what the hell; it’ll be fun!

Let’s see…Multiple scholarships all through undergrad at a major university; graduation “with highest distinction”; 3 years of full-ride scholarships & living expenses from the US government for study at a top grad school and abroad; 4.00 grad school GPA; executive director of a major nonprofit, during which time I met a prime minister, 2 foreigner ministers, a guy named Morita (who started a little company named “Sony,”) and an emperor; also doubled the size of said NPO (in both members and income) in the first 6 months of my tenure; fluent in spoken and written Japanese; universtiy teacher for 15 years; published paper and translations in my field; moderately high ranking in 2 different Japanese martial arts; happily married for 14 years to the same wonderful woman; own my own condo in a major Japanese city; a pretty darn good human being all in all…

And I’m just the 3rd generation descendent of poor, illiterate immigrants. No fancy history-making grandparents like you.

Yeah, you’re right. I don’t have shit to be proud of.

Oh, I forgot one:

I’m an American.

(Edited to improve accuracy)
Excellent cricket imitation, Big O!
That’s because Austria never claimed to be the freest most just nation on the planet like the US constantly does with its freedom-fighter jets and democracy bombs.

It begins here…

And here…

I pledge allegiance to the flag…

Uh, read what I wrote. Your reply doesn’t make any sense.

You’ve outdone yourself - you’re actually getting dumber over time.

^it makes perfect sense you just don’t get it, as usual.

My guess would be that since this site is hosted on a server in the US and therefore subject to US law you aren’t really taking much of a risk.

I guess a few more Hiroshimas and Nagasakis would be OK with you then as well. You’re not that much of a real american but you seem to have bought the patriotard attitude.

Don’t you live in a country without a standing military?
