Migrating to New Zealand

Oh, and just to clarify another myth that seem to prevail overseas, we DON’T have kangaroos hopping down the streets either, but New Zealand might have a few sheep wandering down theirs…[/quote]

I thought we cleared that up…any sheep you find wandering the streets in New Zealand are the mistresses of Australian businessmen over in NZ for a dirty weekend away from the wife and kids

I’d like to go and live in Queenstown for a year or 2. Drive a jet boat and personal training. Cool.

I’ve lived in both countries and I do have to state overall I did prefer living in Australia taking all factors into account.

Another possibility to consider is that as someone has mentioned to a degree is the economy in relation to jobs/earning power. Just keep in mind at some point there’s a possibility your offspring will elect to move to Australia or another country for better job prospects dependant on the field they enter.

WTF!!

I can’t believe I just read a thread where New Zealanders whined about New Zealand!

The only things I agree with are that the earning potential isn’t great unless you’re in the oil and gas industry and that living by the sea is a great plus. Apart from that everything else that has been said is absolute shit.

Myths busted…

  • There are plenty of hot girls in NZ. It’s just that you’re too ugly to score them. And they know it.

  • There are plenty of Asians in the South Island. Mostly in Christchurch. Sure, it’s no Tokyo, but there are plenty.

  • Auckland is ‘the arm-pit’. Sorry if you live there, I understand it’s hard to accept. It has some endearing qualities but overall it is a pit. Don’t believe me? Ask any NZer who doesn’t live in Auckland. And no, it’s not envy.

  • RE: personal training. I worked in the industry for 9 years and everyone I worked with had 5 or more clients per day. Usually averaging around 30 sessions per week. There is money in training if you want it.

Now i’m not saying that i’m the ‘authority’ on NZ but most locals I know haven’t even travelled around their own country.

I’m a bit confused about all these kiwis calling Auckland the “arm pit”. I thought that was meant to be Rotorua with all the sulphur springs!

Please note that I have not yet hopped across “the ditch” to NZ so I don’t really know what Auckland is like.
