Stu, what is the game plan when you have 2 shows that close diet wise? Stay within a few pounds? Try a mini 2 week “rebound”?[/quote]

While I realize my legs have made a substantial improvement from last year’s showings, I do realize that compared to guys like Brian Whitacre and Shaun Clarida, I can still ‘dig out’ more cuts, especially in my upper quads. Seeing as how this year my rectus Femori (plural?) are actually visible, whatever my initial plan before this past weekend was, it is now this:

I am going to dig in like never before and show up in the sickest condition possible. I know I can hold onto muscle because I’ve done it before, and I know how to handle my body so I can do so in the most efficient manner possible. As most of you guys know, I’m very attentive to how (and how much) I target my carb intake, and hopefully, with the addition of the new Indigo product, the effects on my physique from my already pretty high carb intake with be much more profound and dramatic. I’ve already pushed my ‘best’ condition this year, and I intend to push that line even more in the next 5 weeks. I say it here and now, there will be no doubts in anyone’s minds when I step onstage on June 25th. To all the T-Brethren who have stood behind and supported me since I first stepped onstage 3 years ago, I will make you all proud.

F*cking A man, I can imagine the kind of determination you have leading into the next 5 weeks. I’m actually dieting down for a “virtual contest” I set for myself on June 31’st (Hell, maybe we can turn it into a yearly thing, Mr T-Nation or something) - So I’ll be right there along with you with a growling stomach on our Low days…

As far as making us proud goes, you’ve done that quite well already, and I cant wait to see what you bring to the table next time.

That’s the spirit Stu! Give them hell in 5 weeks!

B.

Without sounding arrogant, I really thought this was a pretty weak class compared to other shows I’ve been in.

NO WAY!
nobody on that stage looks thick&conditioned like you,it’s a shame but your condition is far better than last years so very WELL done and continue to kick asses…

Mike

The pictures don’t lie Stu, it was robbery!

Figured this might be of some interest to people.

The day of the show (last Saturday) I weighed in at 175.0 lbs.
Yesterday morning (48 hours post contest), I weighed in at 182.6 lbs.
This morning I weighed in at 180.0 lbs.

Obviously my body is reacclimating itself, so I’m not going to concern myself with weight until I see where I am at the start of next week. I also just received an e-mail confirmation that my shipment of Indigo has arrived and is waiting for me at home (woo-hoo!). As I mentioned earlier, I regularly keep quite a good amount of carbs in my diet, already more than the recommended 100g peri-workout, and also more than most carb phobic people’s goal of 200g/day. As Christian originally assumed this was a fat loss product (due to his initial results), I’m quite curious to see what happens as I attempt to push my body further in the next 5 weeks than I’ve ever done in my competitive career.

Awesome work Stu. You should have had the first place spot for sure. You’re gonna demolish the competition at this next comp.

Random note: is it just me, or in that side chest picture does the guy on the left side of the picture have obscenely long femurs relative to the length of his torso?

Stu,

I’m sure I read this somewhere but now I can’t find it…but are you possibly thinking of doing a 3rd show in November? If so, which one? How would you go about the break in between the June 25th show and that last one with there being so much time in between?

Thanks.

Not too sure what to say about the judging at this show (I took 2nd in the Middleweights). I had a ridiculous number of other competitors and audience members express their disbelief in the final decision. I won’t say anything negative though, just hoping to crush my 2nd show in 5 weeks. I do honestly feel I’ve improved considerably since last year. at 175 lbs, I’m a good 2.5 lbs more of LBM than I was when I won my Pro Card in the USBF last May.

My apologies if this is a dumb question, but in the first two minutes of the vid (the turns), why do you cock your left arm such that you’re blocking the view of your midsection?

Yeah, I’m kicking around the idea of doing the Worlds in November. I had wanted to contest it last year, but after the issues with my lower back and elbow after the Spring 2010 contests, I decided it would be better to take a longer stretch of time off. Obviously with such a duration between shows, any attempt to hold your condition would result in a loss of LBM no matter how careful you are. The plan, if I do indeed go through with this, is to intelligently recomp after the June show, slowly bringing my numbers back up, and allowing my metabolism to actually increase in the process. The result, if done correctly will be a higher total cal and carb intake, yet with much closer to in-season conditioning. Also, even though I will factor a bit of ‘fun’ for the summer months (my girl deserves that much after putting up with all of my bodybuilding nonsense -lol), I will limit my weight much more than I have in the past. I have no doubt that I can always drop 25-30 lbs for a show, and yes, i do enjoy being over 2 bills, BUT the goal is to get better with each contest, and I’m not going to do that by repeatedly bulking/cutting/bulking/cutting. I have to be smart, and precise about this. For now, let’s just let me get through the June show, and then I’ll worry about November

It’s the angle. My brother was sitting to the right of the stage. From the front of the Judges table, it’s actually not blocking anything, merely showing off my meaty ham of an upper arm in all it’s glory

S

Okay, so today (Wednesday 5/25) is my first day including the Indigo 3G in my daily supplements. I am still implementing my rotational dieting approach, with low, med and high carb and cal intakes. While I’m hoping to possibly put on some additional LBM on my medium and high intake days, obviously, my carb intake on the low days will not afford the same level of similar benefit due to lowered amount. What I am hoping for though, is that the leaning out effect first experienced by Christian Thibaudeau will be especially pronounced in my already considerably lean condition.

Ah, makes sense. Another question, when you struck a pose, you pivoted left to right, I’m guessing the seating layout of the judges was such that you had to do this (the other folks on stage didn’t seem to be doing that)?
