Another sidebar, this dude Cain Velasquez is now hot shit in the UFC. In the pre-fight video sequences, they play up his Mexican heritage, the fact that his dad is an illegal, etc. Tons of camera close-ups on his “Brown Pride” tat. Now, what if Lesnar or Chuck Lidell showed up with a huge chest tat that said “White Pride”? Would they drool all over it like they do Velasquez? 'Fraid not. The guy would never get on TV without it being covered up.

Do you think he would get the same opportunity in Mexico? Or would be limited to that Nacho Libre shit?

The race issue is another thing that is just a dead horse. If you disagree with a minority, you are labeled a racist. However, if I went down to Mexico and was not given everything that illegals get here, I could never get away with calling them racists against whites. I would probably not be let out alive. Should I demand free healthcare, free education (in English), government benefits for any children I might have there once I crossed into Mexico illegally?
Where would Mexico be without the help of the US. I wonder, if illegals were not sending back money, what kind of catastrophe would there be in Mexico? Remember this is the #2 GDP for them.

OK, I entered Mexico legally as a tourist but overstayed my tourist visa. I was working at the time (illegally) I then processed papers to get my stay made legal and am now a legal immigrant into the country. I get free healthcare, my daughter went to a state run nursery where she was taught English and I get government benefits.

Well done for following the law, but how many illegal Mexicans do it correctly as you do?

Try re-reading my post, I overstayed a tourist visa and worked illegally. This is exactly what the majority of Mexican’s do in the US.

Bullshit.

Mexicans don’t get Visas, they jump the border. If you overstayed your Visa that’s your fault, but you corrected it to your credit. [/quote]

The majority of illegals in the US entered the country legally and overstayed. That is an established fact. Sorry if it doesn’t meet with your world view.

Did Mexico tell you this?

No, I had large amounts of research on it that I read up on when I was working in Hispanic advertising in the US a couple of years back.

Perhaps you should update your research.

I see no reason to believe this. The question was posed to actual Mexican-“Americans” who were born here, meaning their families are already here.

Reading skillz baby. Your source actually said: "The in-person poll, taken during August and September, sampled 1,004 Mexicans…in Mexico "

Did this post go completely ignored? I couldn’t bare to make it past page 3 with all of the idiocy spewing, but this seems like the most intelligent post in this retarded 10 page thread. I find it funny that OP is using idiotic fearmongering tactics, citing sources and can’t even understand the actual article LOL. The article made it pretty clear that the poll was conducted amongst MEXICANS in MEXICO, but somehow OP’s political ideologies shortcircuited his common sense and he read it as MEXICAN AMERICANS IN AMERICA. So so so funny. I readz good@! LOL

Also, Obama is the anti-christ, it says so in the biblez yo! lol

I think 2010 will show something different in the polls.

For Libertarians? I can only hope you’re right!

What happened in NJ and Virginia is just a taste, I have a feeling.

Oh I was talking about how Libertarians couldn’t win an election (in response to Mr. Ron Paul’s comments), not Republicans. You’re probably right though about Republicans gaining control. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have a strong political affiliation either way because I don’t think any of them could legislate their way out of a wet paper bag. They’ve all fucked up the country cause they can’t work together to get anything good accomplished. There is way too much polarity on the two sides (and their constituents) to get anywhere.

The thing is thought that I really can’t stand it when people make stupid arguments to advance their points (to the point of quoting articles and completely misrepresenting the facts, which was what happened in this post). I managed to finally read through the thread, and it wasn’t as bad as I had imagined. The first 3 pages were a little rough, but some good discussion from there on out. Carry on.

You keep saying this. And, you keep bringing up all illegals when folks are obviously talking illegals from Mexico.

First. The link provided earlier, http://pewhispanic.org/factsheets/factsheet.php?FactsheetID=19 shows that the majority of ALL illegals entered illegally.

“The rest of the unauthorized migrant population, somewhat more than half, entered the country illegally.” And that’s out of the entire estimated “11.5 and 12 million unauthorized migrants in 2006.” If you read that as 12 million illegal immigrants through Mexico alone, than the 12 million total illegals is an obvious underestimate.

OK you were right to call me on that, I was referring to illegal immigrants as a whole not just Mexicans and this topic is about Mexicans so your figure is more relevant. Still pretty much 50/50 though which shows that what I did here in Mexico is typical of what is happening in the US.

There are lots of Americans living here in Guanajuato state who instead of going through the red tape of getting a proper immigrant or non immigrant visa do a border cross every 6 months to renew their FMT.

I actually had an immigration officer at the airport here give me a really hard time and try to refuse me entry into the country because I had not surrendered my FM3 to the consulate in the UK when it expired and I was coming back into the country on an FMT. He was screaming in my face that I was an illegal (was very hard not to laugh.)

Yet you didn’t call him (the immigration officer) a racist.

No, I didn’t think that would improve my chances of attending my friend’s wedding. The funny thing was I was speaking to him in English and he obviously didn’t realise I speak Spanish as his colleague was telling him in Spanish to stop being a dick.
