How can I get the Dr. to order a comprehensive metabolic workup and get Medicare to pay for it? What needs to be checked? Been off and on taking supplements and kinda feel they are a waste unless you know you have a deficiency. Down to just Flameout and multi vitamin at this point.
This should be part of routine bloods from your doc. Do you not get bloodwork as part of an anual checkup?
Last checkup was told a reason, symptom or symptoms, was needed for a full comprehensive work up. They will ck the basics but not a full comprehensive. I guess I could say I’m tired and have brain fog, low libido, etc. and see what they do.
You could also just pay for it at quest yourself.
It’s $40
Are you sure you’re referencing the panels you mean? A comprehensive metabolic panel, I believe, is an annual check-up requirement. Are there other panels you’re looking for you aren’t getting? It sounds like you’re wanting hormone panels.
I was looking for metabolic, hormone, vitamins, glucose. Still learning what to check and monitor. I’ve done hormone before but results didn’t show free t, estradiol, or shbg. Was told I was low on D and B12 18 months ago. Changed diet, eating pretty clean. Guess I don’t really know what to ask for. I have some fitness goals and want to make sure I’m fueling my body correctly. I don’t mind paying for it if I have to but I thought these tests ran more in the $300 plus range.
Was able to get my primary to order complete blood work up. I did tell here I was feeling more tired and not as sharp since last visit which isn’t entirely untrue. Thanks for all the responses.
