I know there’s not many pics in that link but here in Toronto, asian guys carry a purse around all the time. I still don’t get it to be honest.

^This.

I have wondered why so many guys tend to do Halloween in drag. For women it’s always “The sexy…”. For men, it seems to be some version of a woman. It’s the one night of the year when it’s socially acceptable - and usually very funny - to be a woman.

I can’t figure out why the man purse = murse isn’t more popular. Cell phone, keys, wallet, Blistex, your allergy medication, gum, whatever. That’s a lot of junk in your pockets.

In terms of social acceptance, women are allowed a lot more leeway to be a “tomboy”. Little boys who are a bit more on the feminine end of the spectrum are usually made miserable. Is it a fear of “gayness”, or just an indicator that the feminine is seen as so inferior that we can’t tolerate seeing it in men? I’m guessing it’s a bit of both.

“Bulky pockets must be avoided. I never carry cash in a wallet, just cards and motor-vehicle credentials. And I am all for slim credit card holders, which will also accommodate your license, registration, and insurance card, although when cabbing it I often simply drop a credit card into my jacket pocket and carry folded bills in my hip pocket. I have never been a money-clip kind of guy, but if I were, I think I would carry one of those sterling-silver paper clips. Fancy money clips are generally too pimpy to achieve even minimal irony.”

All of you skin care haters, just want to throw this out there…

Would you rather want pimple-faced, acne scarred, blotchy, leather wallet looking skin that is so bad that you could light a match on it?

I am not for or against make-up, but if the alternative is looking like the next on-screen creature, I would opt for whatever I needed to not look that way.
Hey, washing your face and using some lotion is absolutely necessary, but anti-wrinkle cream and lipstick is a little bit of a stretch.

Don’t even get me started on this as I live in Taiwan and the masculinity level is terribly low here.

It’s gay.
Only if your using it to attract dudes to put it in your pooper. Bach wears eye liner all the time, and has probably bagged more chicks than you and I combined.
It’s still gay but it obviously works for him.

When everyone says gay they don’t mean the person is actually a homosexual???

I just mean that’s gay, you’re a fag, whatever but not a practicing homo.

Interesting, and it illustrates how much of this is cultural. Are the guide bags you buy at REI also feminine? Thank goodness the fanny pack has mostly disappeared. That was not a good look on anyone.

How many of you start throwing your stuff in your wife or GF’s giant purse when you are going out? I’m always finding my husband’s sunglasses in my purse. Apparently it’s “our” purse. LOL!

A bit off topic, but I wonder about some of these lines we draw around what is masculine or feminine. For example…

Flutes are for girls.
Singing in the choir is for girls.
Dancing is for girls.
Sewing is for girls.

I recently read an article about truckers who quilt, and I’ve heard of pro athletes who knit. To be honest, I find that kind of refreshing.

^^ EXACTLY! ( for Wilba

Like when I told a coworker that that new “Sucker Punch” movie was gay. He said no way, as it has young hot women doing stupid kung-fu CG jumping shit with guns and swords…I told him that he didn’t understand…thinking that that kind of stuff was sexy is gay.

I only use 2 adjectives. Everything is either cool or it is gay.

backpacks > one strap bags, including purses

I don’t get purses, they’re like half backpacks that weigh down one side of your body, they look pretty uncomfortable. I don’t get any one-sided/one strap bags for that matter. Backpacks!

Asian = yes.

Guy = very questionable.

Burn this fucking thing immediately!

Christ, my eyes are bleeding looking at this thing.

I know a dude who’s jacked as fuck, wears make-up (on the reg) and consistently pulls in quality pussy.

It works for him, so who cares?

Yes it does.

Side note. If i go to Muay Thai, get knocked around with 16 oz. gloves for a couple hours. Get home with scrapes, bruises and black eyes. Put somthing on to cover some of it up, because i work in a position where “battle scars” are professionaly frowned upon. Does that make it gay? Even though i could beat the snot out of you?

why are you being so defensive about this if you don’t care what other guys think?

I didnt mean to intimidate you with my question. Not defensive…curious though.

unless the make up is for a cultural reason or cuz your positive your gonna get fired for coming in with a black eye to work… then no it has no place on any mans face. Face paint does not equal make up so soldiers or football players don’t fit in manly men wearing make up category.

Face paint or covering up an injury is ok. Putting on make up cuz you have a black eye is like wearing elbow sleeves for pressing

Eyeliner mascara w.e else is used to make ugly chicks look alright on a mans face is gay

This is like arguing about skirts vs kilts

So if you got your front teeth knocked out, I assume getting them replaced would be “gay” to. You’d rather walk around with a toothless grin making sure the world knows how un-gay you are.

Im not sure what line of work your in; be it working at the dump or pounding posts. But some of us work in a world where clients, customers, guests and bosses exist and black eyes were cool when we were 13. I train 5 times a week and get my ass kicked all the time. But I dont need to show off my battle scars to make me feel like more of a man.
