Men Determine Dominance Like Dogs

I think it is a bit more complex than this, as there are other reasons to adjust pitch.

However, don’t fake it…

A male dog will whine and beg in deference to a stronger dog, but will lower its voice into a guttural growl if it thinks it has a fighting chance.

Men unconsciously do a similar thing, scientists say.

A new study finds that the lower the pitch of a man’s voice, the more physically dominant other men think he is. And men lower their voice pitch when addressing a man they believe to be less dominant than themselves, but raise it when speaking to someone they think is more dominant.

I also go around sniffing girls’ asses, like a dog. I’ve been known to piss on a tree from time to time too. Maybe there really is something to this theory.

I must think I am king because my voice is rEEdiculously low.

I actually don’t think it is more complex than this. I see people do this on a regular basis. Perhaps it is due to the military’s ranking system or also because of body size. I try to use this as far as treatment. I have a way of talking when I first meet a patient and way I usually talk. My voice isn’t “real deep” (I’m not Barry White) but people seem to pay attention quickly when I speak forcefully. Because of that, I try to speak softer when I first meet them (because people say I can be intimidating). Outside of work I don’t care, but it seems to be effective.

In high school, there was one guy in my geometry class whose voice is still the deepest I have ever heard. Girls used to start giggling and shit whenever he spoke as if they needed a bathroom break to adjust their underwear. If everyone around you stops talking when you speak, I suppose you fit that category.

I also don’t think it is unconscious. If a grown man isn’t aware of how he is perceived in public, something is wrong. He’s had his whole life to figure out how people treat him.

I do like how that study could also be related to physical size. It dispels the belief that all women are looking for guys that look like little boys…at least not when they are ready to have kids.

What if a dominant female is doing this to determine if a certain male is her match?..

I was going out with a woman once, and when she was lying next to me and we talked, just above a whisper, she said that my voice was like a growl and it drove her crazy.

There has to be something to it!

What I want to know is: Where does this leave Ronnie? Cos I couldn’t believe his voice the first time I heard him speak; I thought he was messing around!

I lift because I want to experience myself as a powerful woman.

The muscle and resulting mass I develop is a direct result of this experience.

I have yet to meet another woman in trainning with the same attitude.

Women are weak in their attitude and it makes sense to be attracted/attract little boys since that is a mirror reflection of their inner state.

If more women allowed themselves to experience themselves as a powerful female they would not want anything less then the physique of a powerful male to contain her.

The man does not complement the woman, he contains her - a woman complements a man who is powerful enough to contain her.

I wonder if Mike Tyson subconsciously feels less dominant to all other males…

perhaps he’s a research anomaly…

blush

Thank you.

Well, encourage the women you interact with to be this thruth and we will all be “starting [our engines] to love” a lot more then this doing the right thing to “getting the right masculine/feminine look”

Be a powerhouse - however that shapes you into.

I think he has let the doggy world know he actually bites - he doesn’t have to bark to assess dominance.

Real simple.

Men who need to claim superiority will always find something.

Guys like Tyson they will say IS JUST CRAZY. So they put him in a entirely different bin.

Need to claim superiority? Maybe I am taking your post wrong, but that is simply the way the world works. You are either the leader or the follower in every situation, especially when face to face with other guys. Very rarely does a situation allow more than one “Alpha Male” even though positions may be traded from time to time. Usually good friendships are based on each individual being equal in their own way but knowing when to let one take the lead. I guess the same could be said of marriage.

I agree with this.

And may I add, in the case of marriage, as I said to my significant other:

You are the pilot and I am the co-pilot.

And I want to paraphrase the best definition of masculinity I have ever come across:

" My masculinity is my capacity to stay in front and know that I have what it takes to belong there" - Professor X

I quoted that to a collegue and she said: “Did you get his phone number?”

A lot of women are confused and weakened by an insubstantial society. But in essence this is what women really want:

A man who can be the pilot - knowing that he is not flying alone and that his co-pilot can take him to greater hights, so his flight is not in vain.
