Lol, I think everyone knows that.

Thanks for all the advice/funny comments guys. I’ll make sure I avoid being eaten by a gruesome creature.
Bought tank tops and exchanged some money yesterday, shit’s getting serious.

When will you be coming to Melbourne?
Melbourne is known to have four season in one day. So make sure you are also carrying a jumper, jacket and umbrella as well.

I arrive on Sunday morning. Ok will do.
From what i remember it doesnt sound like you plan to spend much time in the city, but if you are staying in the city and need a gym, I highly recommend Dohertys gym, which is located under the Flinders train station.

Thanks theBird, I’ll check it out.
I’m thinking of taking some time out to explore a second Australian city (I’ll be there for 4 weeks total). Which city do you guys think I’d be best off visiting? Which has the most to offer? I’m leaning towards Sydney atm, but I’m not basing that on much knowledge lol.

I would probably recommend Sydney or maybe a coastal town like Cairns if its just for a 2-3 day visit. I would invite you over to the west side, although its a long way to go and we don’t have as much to do here. Although I still think you might enjoy yourself. If you do come to Perth, let me know, and I will set up a day we can go to the gym together.

Yeah, do Sydney. Another big cosmopolitan city like Melbourne, but different. Melbourne is more laid back, sophisticated and cool. Sydney is grander and impressive - Bondi, Manly, the Rocks, the swanky areas, Harbour Bridge, Opera House etc. Depends what you want to do but give yourself at least 3-5 days to explore, given you’re coming all the way here. Only about 8 hours from Melbourne by car/bus, or a couple of hours by plane.
If you want sun, surf, pristine beaches and weather, and fit and bronzed bodies (ie, what most foreigners think when they think the Aussie lifestyle), I’d go further north to the Gold Coast. Not as much to do up there other than the beach and party, but it’s fun if that’s your sort of thing.
Never go to Adelaide.
If you’re in Sydney you could also do a day trip or overnighter to Canberra. Don’t plan on spending more time than that though, there’s just not that much to do.
Other day trips out of Sydney would be to the Hunter Valley and the Blue Mountains.
Forget Sydney.
Their blood is black and foul smelling. I believe they eat their own children.
I’d suggest Wangaratta, the gate way to the sunny North East of Victoria!
Thanks for all the advice guys!
I’m heading to the airport in a couple of hours, very excited.

Have fun!

O_O You alive bro???
Haha alive and well thanks! Swam in the sea 3 times, and haven’t been eaten by anything yet! Though the 3rd time my glasses got knocked off by a big wave and I spent 36 hours blind before I could get my spare pair (I was in Tasmania at the time lol). Pretty noobish haha.
Thanks for all the help in this thread guys! So far I’ve done quite a few of your suggestions. I’ve been to Doherty’s gym a couple of times, I went to Richmond vs Carlton (and barracked for Richmond, hope you’re happy Marty!!!), I went to the Grampians National Park for a weekend, I did the Great Ocean Road (in a bright orange Ford Falcon no less) and this past weekend I took a couple of extra days off and went to Tasmania. I’m pretty happy with what I’ve crammed in considering I’ve been working during the week.
I have one weekend left - I get this Friday off and my flight doesn’t leave until Sunday evening. I plan on hiring a car again and heading off somewhere. I’ve been really enjoying the “wilder” bits, and exploring the countryside and seeing wildlife etc. Can anyone recommend somewhere in particular to go? Any good national parks or similar that are a driveable distance? I’m used to driving long distances, so that doesn’t bother me. I’d quite like to see the proper outback, but I don’t have a concrete definition of what the outback is and where it begins lol. Seems like a bit of a vague term.
Thanks again for all the help!
Ive lived in Australia all my life and I don’t think I have seen the “outback”. The real outback would be probably be something like ularu but that is too far to drive.
May I suggest you just relax for the last few days of your trip. Drink good wine, eat some nice food and spend some time with some quality Melbourne women.

Very Happy. Particularly as its the one game we’ve won this season. God knows we tried our best to lose it. You need a strong heart to barrack for the Tiges. We have two types of supporters, passionate or dead…which one are you boy? Did you enjoy our Theme song?
If you want an Outback experience and are currently in Melbourne, I would suggest driving out towards Ouyen or Swan Hill visit the Little Desert along the way. This will put you into the Malley Country, but honestly there is nothing worth seeing there unless you happen to get off on a truly mind numbing expanse of sand and scrub.
