I don’t remember where but I’ve heard that the IQ test is designed identical to the SAT. If this is true, that is downright retarded.
There’s even SAT to IQ conversion charts out there. Mine line up perfectly. Kinda weird.
Never did an SAT in my life so no chance to compare, but those US IQ scores look somewhat inflated.

I dunno, but in Europe 100 is the mean and 15 a standard deviation.
That’s pretty much the norm in general
No there is another test where the mean is still 100 and the SD is around 10.

That makes a difference because if you around 130 you would be 3 SDs above the norm, not two.

Anyhow, I cannot shake the gut feeling that USA IQ scores are somewhat inflated.

Either you are all wickedly smart or something does not quite add up-

It suggests a 4 point difference in favor of Austria compared to Americans.

What I remember from particular about America is Alabama has the lowest at 95, Montana the highest at 105, and Texas smack dab in the middle at 100 sometimes a point or two lower depending on which data set you pull up.

Granted I fully recognize there are some serious flaws in the studies used to obtain that data but at the surface it seems about right.

The most interesting thing is that the strongest correlation between IQ and the different nations is disease rate. Particularly dysentary (sp?).

Another interesting factoid I’ve found is that there’s a stronger correlation between a countries GDP and the top 5% of IQ rather than the modal IQ.

I don’t know of this test.

Yes, you can have special testing. It’s an uphill battle in America, they are more worried about the social aspect rather than the education aspect anymore.
I’m not sure I understand what you mean by that.

You can start school at the age of three. If you try to go that route in public schools in America, it is an uphill battle. The public school system in America seems to be more focused on socialization than education.

Ah, makes sense now.

Tangentially, it’s funny how public school means a completely different thing in America to England.

Not unlike bums and fags. A ‘bum’ in the US means ’ a tramp or hobo’; in the UK, a ‘bum’ is the American equivalent of an ‘ass’. If you called someone an ‘ass’ in the UK, you would basically be calling them a donkey or some other beast of burden (although that is changing slowly).

Now, If you took a ‘bum bag’ from the UK over to the US, it would become a ‘fanny pack’. Why? Because a fanny in the U.S is an ass or a butt…but a fanny in the UK is a vagina…

Let’s take things a step further. The apparently innocent act of ‘smoking a fag’ might have life changing implications depending on which side of the Atlantic you are on: If you smoked a fag in the UK, you would have just enjoyed a cigarette. However, if you had just ‘smoked a fag’ in the U.S, then you would have just killed a homosexual. Always pays to learn the local lingo…

Never ‘smoke fags’ in the US, and never ‘attack bums’ in the UK. Oh, and never, ever forget which country you are in and try to ‘bum a fag’.

/ transatlantic English lesson.

Money is all you need, or coke. Both work equally well.

More importantly he’s a rich mofo which lets whats her name overlook the fact that he is a furry.

This thread has delivered way beyond the wildest dreams of the OP.

This would be legal in Germany.

This picture reminds me of Flavio Briatore and his wife. Must be love. Surely all the pretty girls love old fat guy’s and the money just gets in the way of true love?

Lol

I’ve never heard “bum” used to mean tramp here. It normally is another word for hobo, homeless person, beggar, etc. or as a verb when trying to get something from someone. “Can I bum a cigarette?”

I think the OP just mentioned his IQ as a way to quantify his own intelligence. As to say, “I’m pretty smart, so you’d think I’d be able to figure this out or could fix what I’m doing wrong”. I didn’t get the impression that he goes around throwing his IQ score out to everyone he meets (which seems to be the conclusion that many here did jump to, by reading replies).
