Meat and Veggies Diet

Got in a good workout today, upped my working weight in the bench by 10 pounds up to 245 and it felt good. Got up 3x3 and then missed the third for two more sets. Then dropped down to 225 and did 2x5. I think eating a lot of shitty food for the bachelor party actually helps strength a lot (all you can eat buffet at the casino, cracker barrel, and pizza). I’m gonna be pretty strict for the next two weeks with the exception of some drinking over the weekend and we’ll see what happens.

I just told myself that I’m not allowed to eat carbs and pushed through it. I’m pretty good at all or nothing but horrible at regulating a food that I’m allowed to eat in moderation. I am glab I’m eating carbs now, my libido started to drop to a normal persons level but is now back up to a 15 year old kid.

I take a pretty bad ass multivitamin called Glacial Milk and combined with a lot of fruit and veggies I think I’m getting all the nutrients I need.

Rock on. I’ve been finding that with each passing hour the cravings have dissipated (this morning I’m barely having any), but I’m worried about my first carb-up this weekend bringing it all back come next week. I guess that’s the sacrifice to be made on this diet.

I looked up the Glacial Milk. It looks like a good multivitamin. Does it go down smooth? I’m using Men’s Daily right now (not the best, but my wife had the best of intentions), but I’m looking for something better. I don’t mind liquid if the taste is bearable.

(I hope I’m not derailing your thread)

The taste of Glacial Milk is quite good, kinda like Strawberries.

Weighted in at 191.6 today, should be able to get under 190 by the time I leave for the Dominican Republic next week. I’ve been playing soccer lately and I think that does more for losing fat then anything else, except diet. It’s nice outside so I’m starting to get a tan as well which is nice.

Cool. I think I’ll try some next time I get a multi-vitamin.

BTW, Glacial Milk is $20 at Sams Club, MSRP on the bottle is $40.

Went to the Dominican Republic last week and lived as gluttonous a lifestyle as I could, drinking every night and eating as much as I wanted. Weighed in on Monday at 193, no change in weight from before I left. I stayed pretty active playing soccer every day and didn’t sit in front of a computer once. I started training on my powerlifting competition on Monday as well so I’m no longer trying to lose weight. I may go on a 1-2 week diet soon but I haven’t decided yet.

I’m gonna keep eating meat, veggies, fruits, and complex carbs (only after working out) diet for the rest of the summer. Since this is a lifestyle change rather then a “diet” I am allowing myself to eat out as much as I want.

I’m not weighing myself every day now but I’ll keep posting once a week or so with updates.

Why are you weighing yourself nearly every day? This can only cause undue stress because weight fluctuates so much day to day. Once a week is really all you need. Then you can say “holy shit, i’m down 3 whole pounds!” =)

Good luck

I realize that weight fluctuates so it doesn’t stress me out. My weight actually causes me very little stress however achieving my goals is gonna take some time.

Why not? It only causes stress to the unintelligent that think you can actually gain 3lbs of fat in one day, or conversely lose 3lbs in one day. If you’re smart enough to know that your weight fluctuates then it isn’t an issue. Weighing yourself is about accountability and learning how your body reacts to different stimulus.

im on a similar diet man but I’ve never done the low phase. I just eat good fats with lots of fish oil, meat and seafood, veggies, fruit in the morning, shake and whole grains/potatoes PWO. I’m doing a lot of cardio too, kinda comparable to soccer! Have you found you’ve continued to drop weight on the diet with fruit and some complex carbs? I’m deliberating whether to keep this or cut down more on the carbs, I only wanna drop 7-8 pounds this month while keeping my activity levels high

keep up the good work

cheers

I haven’t been losing weight lately, been going out to eat a lot and drinking about twice a week. For me my weight only changes if I do extremes, either massive eating to gain weight or very low calorie diet to lose weight. Anything in between then my body tends to adapt and stay the same weight.

I have decided that I want to achieve my goal of having a six pack this summer. Not to do so because of my powerlifting schedule would be a cop out. For me two weeks of calorie restriction is too much, I tend to get tired, have a lower libido, and not much weight loss by the end of the second week.

I’m going to try a 12 day cycle, Monday to the following Friday. I’m not going to give up carbs, just keep calories very low. I’m going to eat meat, veggies, and fruit. No other carbs but I will have my supps, whey, fish oil, multi, and creatine. I’m gonna start today and see how it goes.

Weighed in at 191.8 today and a t-bone steak is on the menu for tonight as well as heavy squat day. I’m going to throw in about 15-20 mins on the elliptical as well after the workout.

Looking forward to having a six pack this summer so I’m actually pretty motivated.

It’s been a while since I updated, my weight hasn’t changed at all in the past month but I think I look slightly leaner, I’ll take some pics soon to compare. My diet has been a decent maintenance diet. I basically just don’t buy bread and simple carbs but I do eat wheat pasta, granola bar, or something like that a few times per week. I’ve been eating a lot of fruit because I like it but I still can’t get myself to eat veggies like I should. I maxed this past week and my bench and deadlift haven’t moved but my squat went up 20 pounds to 335.

My current numbers are:

Squat: 335
Bench: 260
Dead: 380

My goals for my August 2nd meet are:

Squat: 350
Bench: 275
Dead: 400+

That would give me a raw total of 1025 pounds. My goal since January has been to have a 1200 pound total which I knew from the beginning was pretty lofty. I’m going to focus my training on deadlift because that’s where I think I can get the biggest poundage gains.

Tomorrow I’m going to drop the cals to 1500 per day for two weeks and try to drop about 8-10 pounds. The breakdown is going to look something like this:

5 meals a day

300 calories per meal

1500 calories per day

low carb, 75-100 grams per day or 300-400 calories per day

180 grams of protein per day or 720 calories from protein

42-53 grams fat per day or 380-480 calories from fat

Most calories will come from fruits, vegetables, meat and nuts.

I’m going to begin each day with a whey protein shake and a 30 min walk in addition to my current training. I currently lift 4x per week on an upper/lower split and play soccer on Saturdays. I’m going to be keeping a food log on fitday.com which should help keep me honest.

Why so low on calories?

For me it works well. I lose weight very quickly and don’t usually lose strength, or at least nothing that won’t be regained when I up the calories again. I hate to be on a restricted diet for very long. The rest of the time I eat the same foods, but more of them and “cheat” on a regular basis with beans, pasta, burgers, and the occasional sweet.

It worked well for caveman.

This is day 2 on the 1500 calorie meat and veggies diet and so far so good. I’ve got plenty of energy and haven’t felt hungry except for last night. When I do feel hungry I drink my green tea with BCAA’s and Stevia and it actually fills me up a bit.

This is actually not as extreme as my diet when I started this thread and I feel like I could keep it up for quite a while if needed. Using fitday is great, it’s just verifying what I already knew but it’s still nice to have. It’s interesting to see my pie chart of fat/carbs/protein change through the day. By lunch the calories are split up fairly evenly from eating fruit but after dinner over half are from protein and around 30% are from fats.
