A friend of mine works at a gas station, she told me that someone called up pretending to be the district manager, and convinced the other girl working there to take cash out of the drawer, leave the store, and drive like 5 miles to a crappy part of town and leave it next to a tree. A TREE!
Now i can understand maybe getting convinced to take it to another gas station if they ran out of money, but a tree? Took every part of me to not laugh in the girls face.

I don’t think anyone involved in that incident was stupid. I think the manager and her sick fuck fiance took advantage of a prank phone call and used it as an opportunity to abuse a young girl.
I watched a special on it awhile back. The fiance had the girl locked in the office naked and crying while she begged to be allowed to call her mom when he took off his belt and threatened to beat her with it if she didn’t blow him. All because some “mysterious voice on the phone told him to.” Bullshit.
That poor girl probably thought they were going to kill her, how else could you cover something like that up.

This is something I’ve studied in depth in psychology. Its all about complying with the requests of a perceived authority figure.
A famous ‘unethical’ study by Millgram was done on the topic. He had two participants in separate rooms. One was asked questions (and he was involved in the research) and the other (random subject) was required to administer an electric shock for wrong answers. He found that a large number of subjects continued to give shocks to what were labeled as extremely dangerous levels, even amongst screams being heard and at higher level no response, mimicking passing out.

According to the comments on the video, the manager also got 1.1 million from McDonalds for some reason(like she was prank called at gun point or something and needed payment for damages?) I don’t really get that part of it, she seemed to be pretty far in the wrong here as well.
