When I’m cutting, and I try to avoid it as much as possible, I figure out how much protein I need and then go from there. Lots of protein and fat keep me feeling full.

I never wants less than 300 grams of protein at 193lbs.[/quote]

Im at 241 lbs I guess shooting for 350-400 grams would be ideal.

Given this info, if fat loss is of importance, I would suggest 50g Protein per meal x 6 meals. (300g total).

Carbs on Medium days would be 190g (split 70 in meal one, 50 in meal two and then 70 in your post workout meal).

Low days would be 120g (split 60g in meal one and 60g in meal two).

I really appreciate this Ddot, this gives me the guidelines I need, thank you very much!

No trouble. It’s the basics behind Carb Cycling. There are many an article on T-Nation regarding this. I think you can even find an excel spreadsheet calculator in the Forums somewhere which lets you figure out your overall totals.

It can get much more complicated (kinda) when you factor in what kind of work you do (i.e. daily activity level), hormonal profile, things like that.

But if that gets you started, cool. Plus 190g and 120g of carbs is a pretty cool place to start at. Wish I had those numbers.

I second this. Ball-drying is very interesting to me, must…learn…more.

I gotta say, I’m also here for the food though. Not the diet-y foods though.
But burgers with american cheese and Sicilian pizza… that’s what I’m talkin’ bout.

You know, that’s a good point, how are we going to “ooh” and “ahh” over lettuce wraps and cut oats?! We come here for the big, juicy, meaty sammiches…mmm…toasted bread…come to mama!

…and I’m spent!

Jk! I would never thwart your lean-gains endeavors - you eat clean, baby, you eat clean!

Matty, you asked what protein I take in. Ddot might be a better authority on getting ripped, I never went that route (went on diets a couple of times, but not that well thought-out). Old Navy could give a few pointers, he’s very helpful.

Anyway, I weigh 212, focusing on building without getting a beer gut:

1.4 lbs cooked pork, spread over 2 meals
1 apple
multi-vitamin, magnesium, fish oil

1 scoop egg protein shake
rice

1 can tuna w tomato and/or lettuce

1 scoop shake w shot of cream

1 lb cooked ground beef w shredded cheese
lettuce and/or tomato
rice

1 scoop shake w shot of cream

Depending on how hard I trained and/or how hungry, will also have 6 oz can of chicken and/or 4 oz can chicken

1 scoop shake w shot of cream

About the ball-drying the women want to know about… it’s much easier if the landscaping is kept up in the area, and much prettier, as well.

Old wet guys who look like wet dogs from all the hair on the shoulders and back is bad enough(I would be like this if the wife didn’t regularly shave it for me), but when their balls look like they have santa beards, its even worse. And it’s especially bad if they like to shake the blow dryer to not create any hot-spots down there, it makes the drops go flying off the beard all over the place. Nothing like getting a drop of geezer ball-dew in your mouth. So make sure you move out of the spray area if this occurs near you.

The wife and I have a pact, I do the landscaping outside, she does it inside. I think I tend to get sweatier while she is doing her work inside, than I do outside doing mine, most times, heh.

And on a side note, Matty, really, your log grows at an incredible rate, I try to catch up on everyone’s and can only manage 2-3 others, because yours takes up all my time.

Masch - See I thought you would talk me out of this whole eating clean thing, now what am I gonna do, fuck I guess Im gonna have to follow through…which is never one of my strong suits when it comes to eating.

Nikki - You know what tomorrow is, right? nothing stops me from my FAF!

Cav - Make no mistake, I am not looking to get ripped! I dont think I have the resolve and will to do that, but to drop some body fat would be nice, getting stronger and bigger will always be my goals in the gym, if I can possibly eat cleaner and put on good weight if you will is all Im striving for.

Ogre - No doubt I have to keep trim, if I don’t I will like a Yetti, I have my wife do all the nooks and crannys that I cant get too, God bless her.

Thanks to all you guys who make my boring as hell job go by quicker…I mean it.

I think Maty is secretly going for spangly gold speedo’s

Shhhhhh! its a secret!

We all gotta do it Matty. Some point in our lives, we have to… eat clean shudder

My FAD (fat ass day) is Saturday =(
I’m craving some Five Guys so definetely gotta get that. I also want donuts! Might hit up a Dunkin’ Donuts on the way back.

YES…I had a few DDs at my moms house (wait wha?) Jelly Sticks…most most enjoyable for me.

Hmmmmmmmm donutsssss. Aghhhhhh.

How can you do this to me!!!

Shelby is definitely the man when it comes to nutrition. He does consulting too on various levels if you were interested in going that route. It’s not cheap but it might be worth it. For me the easiest thing to do is simply removing one thing out of my diet (say bread) and seeing how that impacts my bodyfat. I definitely agree with Meadows about trying to do too much at once.

Are you changing your training around at all? If you’re simply looking to lose a bit of fat there’s also simple stuff like dragging a sled or pushing a prowler around that can help.

james

Hey James,

I am going to change my training a bit, last week I missed a day and did DL and MP in the same day and it worked out well, I am going to continue to do that, and on the 4th day of training do BB complexes. In addition to that I will add in some fasted SS cardio in the am.

I would love to get a prowler but I will be moving soon and downsizing, so room is an issue, my friend has a gym in NJ, where I do some prowler and tire work just not consistently.

FWIW Dday I think my wife got food poisioning yesterday for engulfing a dozen munchkins!

Amen to this.
