On the bench…I noticed you do more of a BB bench (high on the chest, not much arm tuck). Is that due to shoulder comfort (which would SEEM counter-intuitive) or are you actually trying to hit the chest more?

Hold up hold up. When you say chins with bands, you mean you use the bands as resistance? Not assistance?

Matty great work brother, I got to adjust my set up at the house so I can do chins like that. I cant do normal grip with the shoulder, but I think I could do those.

KMCNYC - Thanks man, yeah bro if you could believe hes been losing weight that belly was like a keg of egg nog last year! Hes a pretty nice guy but man he taaaaaalks, if you really want to waste time one day hes the guy to call.

Strick - Thanks bro, you are absolutely right it is a def BB type bench press. I have always benched this way and hence the shoulder issues, honestly I really dont know how to bench any other way. I have been actually watching your vids and other peoples vids on our forum to get the more of PL style down. I actually do try to retract my shoulder blades, but the bar lower and back arched is very difficult for me to do, old habits die hard. what I may do is really drop the weight and concentrate on form.

Nikki - Nice to see you :slight_smile: where the hell you been? I saw that zombie toe has healed up! Yeah I do band resistance when doing neutral or supinated grip chins, I was using my weighted dip belt for a while but I like these a bit better, I like the resistance it gives throughout, since I really dont do much direct bicep work they seem to hit them good. Hopefully one day I can start using the bands when I do wide grip pullups (pronated).

DDay - Thanks man! Yeah dude I love using bands from everything from stretching to benching whatever I sleep with em too!

DJ - Thanks Bro, these are much much easier on the shoulder and easier in general. With the pronated grip I am luck to get 6 or 7 reps out of em. I was at one time using a real wide neutral grip which were basically only hitting the rear delts more than the lats.

There was a great article about pullups a while back that changed my view of wide grip pullups, basically just leaving the grip a little wider than the shoulders will give your lats more activation, but yes they do seem harder on the shoulders.

Outstanding pullups, I also noted that in the second vid there appears to be a very well built woman talking to a couple of guys who look like bags full of ass. Either she’s a trainer or she’s looking for the chance to punch them in the neck.

p.s. I do NG chins while holding the dumbbell with my feet; turns out that works my abs simultaneously, which I didn’t realize until one day I tried doing them when my abs were sore! Then I remembered Contreras the glute guy had pullups activating abs a decent amount in one of his EMG (or whatever) articles.

Ab work sucks. The best way to get it is by accident, IMO.
A good reminder to add back in the DB / chin thing. Been a while since I did those.
