I have a feeling this running base building is a bit like when you first run 5/3/1. Your max is 100kg but it’s been 12 weeks now and you haven’t touched a weight over 92.5kg. You’re not convinced you’re actually getting stronger than one day you test and lift 115kg like butter and realise it was working all along.

Weighed in at a bloated 229.0 today, though it is nice that a disappointing weigh-in today is what would have been a 10-month weight PB a few weeks ago.
Slept awfully last night, and then someone tried to break into our bedroom at 6am so I wasn’t preparing to have a great session today.

Damn if that hilariously literal advice didn’t work @mortdk @simo74. Had a great rhythm for the first 1.5 miles or so, to include a PB 9:05 mile and a PB 14:11 1.5 mile. I was hoping to get a sub-30 5K after that but pace fell off in the last mile.
Huge annoyance today was sweat dripping in the eyes. Might have to go full Running Wanker™ and get a sweatband.
If you’re going to do that, you might as well go all out and get one of those pathetic little water bottles who’s entire internal volume is taken up with the handle.
In all seriousness though, genuinely impressed and slightly shamed by how quickly you’ve taken to serious running.
Thanks mate. It’s more from necessity than anything else. I’m fairly certain that had I a home gym setup, it would not be happening to this extent.
Might end up buying some squat stands, a cheap bar and 150kg or so if it miraculously becomes available. Squats, chinups and weighted pressups would take me a fair way. If not, heavier kettlebells will be on the cards.

Eat as you like during the weekend, get back at the grind Monday. Your body’s metabolism will go up and be up for a couple of days. You might be at 231 Monday but you’ll be under 227 Thursday

Every time I see a video of myself lifting I’m shocked by how much limb length I have. My size does mean a >200kg pull isn’t shit, though - not even 2x BW.
Dunno really, I think I’m blessed with the same “Big Dude, Small Hands” syndrome as @Koestrizer. When I let go and straighten my fingers the straps can just kind of slide off.
For the purposes of confusing Americans my short-term deadlift target is 225.
I’m a manlet so same. Does anyone make figure 8s in a smaller size?
I have the medium (30") from Cerberus Strength and they have a size down from that (28").
The medium works well enough for me and my totally average-sized wrists*. I couldn’t bring myself to buy the small given their description:
As a general guide Medium/Large works great for most adult men with Normal/Large size wrists. Small/Medium for most female lifters or teenagers.
*I’m not weird for knowing my wrist size I just like watches.

When I’ve used figure 8s they pretty much hang so low the bar is in the furthest crook of my fingers. Too cheaty for me

You know I recently compared my hand size to my mother… And our hands are the same freaking size! Only mine are… Fatter but in lenght they are equal. Even most of my by far shorter friends have longer hands/ fingers
