@flappinit yeah, Christ. That is just riddled with innuendo. I don’t think there’s any part of that sentence that can’t be misinterpreted.
Tuesday, 31 March
Down to a 2020 low of 230.3 today. Weighed in a little later and drank a bit of whisky last night so slightly cheating, but I’ll take it.
Training (AM): Long Run
3.13 miles /5.1km
36:40 (sadly a PB 5K)
Training (PM): 10,000 Kettlebell Swings W2D2
All done with a 16kg (35lb) KB.
Cluster 1
10 swings
1 single-arm KB press (each arm)
15 swings
2 single-arm KB press (each arm)
25 swings
3 single-arm KB press (each arm)
50 swings
This was one unbroken set then just under 3m rest. Feeling it in the lats now that I’m actively swinging back as well as up.
Cluster 2
10 swings
1 single-arm KB press (each arm)
15 swings
2 single-arm KB press (each arm)
25 swings
3 single-arm KB press (each arm) (took 60s here, but no rest before this)
50 swings
Kept rest to 2m after this, but forearms were feeling it.
Cluster 3
10 swings
1 single-arm KB press (each arm)
15 swings
2 single-arm KB press (each arm)
Put the cunt down for about 15s.
25 swings
3 single-arm KB press (each arm)
Took the minute here again.
50 swings
Not as bad as I expected, though I am finding many new and creative ways to count to 50. Took just over 2m30s after this. Reached this point at around 17:30.
Cluster 4
10 swings
1 single-arm KB press (each arm)
15 swings
2 single-arm KB press (each arm)
25 swings
3 single-arm KB press (each arm)
As with previous clusters, took a 60s break before the 50.
50 swings
Cluster 5
10 swings
1 single-arm KB press (each arm)
15 swings
2 single-arm KB press (each arm)
25 swings
3 single-arm KB press (each arm)
Should have powered through in one set here for a PR time but I had to put the fucker down between rounds. Hard to type right now as forearms are still pumped.
50 swings
Time: 30:34
Swings: 3,500/10,000
Not a bad time considering I ran 5K this morning and drank a few whiskies last night, but wish now I’d gone faster in Cluster 5 to challenge yesterday’s time.
Wednesday, 1 April
Back up to 233.2 yesterday. Took the day totally off with zero activity besides a 20m walk around the park.
Thursday, 2 April
Up to 233.8 today which is annoying considering how little I ate yesterday.
Training (AM)
Short/Medium Run
2.5km/1.5m
17m or so
Felt worse than usual. Probably due to the aforementioned eating little.
50 Chinups Progression
3x
4x
3x

7x (fat PR)

Halfway point. Took 60s.

25 swings
3 goblet squats
Took a minute here.

3 goblet squats
Took maybe 15 seconds to put on the Rocky IV Training Montage song and then got going again.
50 swings
Time: 24:48 (PR)
Swings: 4,000/10,000
Could actually have sub-20 on the horizon in two weeks’ time. Didn’t see that coming. This workout would have been about 18m if I took zero rest periods. Sounds disgusting, though.
Wish I had a 24kg KB for a proper run at this.
Lol I just now figured out that you use “m” short for minute and not meter!
I’d take the piss, but exactly the same thought crossed my mind.
I feel like someone could have told me when I tried to be funny here:

20m walk around the park.
F*ck me dead I did exactly the same just thought What?
20 minutes I get it.
I did on cluster the other day just the swings with a 16 kg bell as well.
I am absolutely certain I couldn’t do 5 rounds of that. Pure torture, cudos my friend.
Well, minute or mile, just to be even more confusing. When you’re from a country where you put litres of petrol in your car but measure consumption in miles to the gallon shit gets confusing pretty quickly.
I feel like someone could have told me when I tried to be funny here:
I actually thought that was a reference to my being slow, which is warranted. I didn’t exactly get the joke but you are German after all ![]()
@mortdk yeah it isn’t fun at all but I find recovery between clusters isn’t much of an issue since the weight is so light.
I actually thought that was a reference to my being slow, which is warranted
Lmao I thought this too, part of me though “ oi flame free brother” and then the other part went “yer that is slow” ![]()
![]()
Shit that made me laugh @simo74!
I didn’t exactly get the joke but you are German after all
From spending a lot of time with Australians I now know there are numerous pretty weird assumptions about Germans. Not sure where that all comes from but yeah when it comes to humor we aren’t especially number one, I admit that. ![]()
I’m from England and have found Germans to have a pretty good sense of humour. Some things get lost in translation but that is always going to happen. Hell you blokes are a lot funnier than the French. Lmao ![]()

Hell you blokes are a lot funnier than the French. Lmao
I’m very far from a nationalist but even I would’ve taken it as an insult if you would’ve said it the other way around! ![]()
Lol I get why you would say that. But I can only call it the way I have experienced it.
Germans are sound/funny as anyone to be fair, it’s just often super-dry humour. I think the Yanks have the “Germans aren’t funny” stereotype more, because it’s not as similar to American humour as British.
“How many Germans does it take to change a light bulb?”
“One. They are very efficient but not especially funny.”
I worked for a German-run company in Gibraltar for a couple of years; it was a real melting pot of European nationalities. A lot of national stereotypes are reasonably true, but never to a caricature-ish extent.
Hell you blokes are a lot funnier than the French.
Not the highest bar, but a very fair point.
Friday, 3 April
Back down to 232.2 today. More like it.
Training (PM): 10,000 Kettlebell Swings W2D4
Warmup
Run around the block. About 0.5m or so in about 3m ![]()
Cluster 1
100 swings
Fuck it why not? Took 3m after this.
Cluster 2
100 swings
Took the 2m. Not really going for time in the swings-only sessions but don’t want to be slovenly.
Cluster 3
50 swings, 1m rest, 50 swings
Grip the main factor in this pause. Took a the full three minutes after this. Embrace the slovenly.
Cluster 4
100 swings (ugh)
Full 3 again here.
Cluster 5
100 swings (just about; forearms hurt a lot here. Can’t guarantee I didn’t do 90 or 110.)
Time: 23:51 (a solid swings-only PR)
Swings: 4,500/10,000
damn you’re lower back most be cramping or something, awesome.
Germans can be quite funny, like almost the rest of the world.
One thing though do not ever as in never ever make a joke or laugh about a Germans ability to drive a car, that’s the one thing they are really tight about.
In my current job we received guidance that when writing to the Danish market we were never allowed to make fun of the stork.
Don’t you ever say anything about the stork, sacrilege it is.
Nah I think you can make jokes about just about anything in Denmark. You know we were the ones with the caricature drawings of Allah. We are pretty stupid and love british humor.
I mean we are pretty much known for our cars and the Autobahn! Also as you know I have been in Denmark a lot and I really enjoy your highways. If you just drive a tiny bit over the speed limit you just pass everyone. You guys are very disciplined in that regard (you have much harder penalties than we do, which probably explains that).
Still bummed I missed you in your home town!
