This is probably going to drive you to distraction, which is not my intent. But technically speaking, the right to abortion access (codified in Roe) is significantly older than the right of individuals to bear arms independent of militia service (codified in Heller). In short, I don’t think you’re acknowledging just how radically 2A constitutional law has changed over the past 40 years, culminating in the Heller decision (which was judicial activism of the strongest sort).
Well, without the massive redistribution by the welfare state and of course the voluntary redistribution that leads to women making 80% of consumer decisions women would hardly have any economic power at all.
You did not earn this, you voted for programms that would take mens wealth by force to fund you and you sell your vaginas very well.
Of course there are women that can fund their livestyle themselves, given that men provide a secure enough environment so that they can leave their home unsupervised.
Emily, you take an awful lot that is provided for you for granted.
Assuming that is true (which I am doing only for the sake of argument), your explanation still founders on the fact that females were subjugated even after ‘aging out’ of what might be called their ‘sexual power stage’ under your theory. There’s no reason to be fearful of the sociopolitical consequences adhering to the unchecked sexuality of an 80 year-old woman. (And to anticipate, it would strain credulity to argue that this too was a case of ‘better safe than sorry.’)
Total dodge. You responded to none of my points and answered no questions.
But I had to have a needle inserted into my vain and they stole some of my blood on my last medical procedure. OH THE HUMANITY! MY RIGHTS TO MEDICAL PROCEDURES ARE BEING TRAMPLED OVER HERE!!! will you speak out for me ED?
If they did these things for no compelling medical reason–ie, not because your doctor felt it was medically necessary, but rather at the whim of legislators cynically pushing a political agenda–I think you’d be offended and bothered in tone rather than mocking. Further, if the medically unnecessary procedure you endured was vastly more intimate, invasive and humiliating than a mere blood draw (I’ll let you use your imagination as to what such a procedure might be), you wouldn’t be bothered–you’d be outraged.
There are all kinds of things legislatively required for procedures. They require counseling for gender changes and like a year plus delay.
And I’ve had a finger in my butt for a physical so I could get on insurance, so there is that. And my last trip they cupped my balls and had me cough. Please quit acting like it isn’t routine in medicine.
And there is a HUGE medical reason for an ultra sound. Age of the fetus needs to be determined for the medical treatment of the other human involved. There happens to be a point where the fetus has medical rights too and that has to be verified.
Those exams were considered medically necessary. They were not performed at the whim of the legislature ordering your doctor to do something s/he did not consider to be indicated by your condition.
The doctor is perfectly capable of determining if and when an ultrasound is indicated; s/he does not need a medically-ignorant state legislator to make that call. Besides, as I said before, the purpose of the state-mandated vag ultrasound is NOT improved medical care; it is a cynical ploy to promote a political agenda. (You will recall that the state-mandated vag ultrasound laws carried the stipulation that the u/s monitor be positioned directly in the line of sight of the woman in order to compel her to see her ‘baby.’ And there is nothing remotely medically necessary about that.)
And all the other legislated mandates can’t be handled by medical doctors? Why are they different? Even having to see the baby can be considered full education of what the procedure entails. Something lots of procedures legally require as already mentioned.
The bottom line is that there are tons of laws regarding informed consent for medical procedures (what the courts ruled the ultrasound falls under) and the medical treatment of minors like the un-born. Especially when there are medical personnel and places that have shown a wanton disregard for the health of some of their patients as in abortion. The absolute only reason you care more about this one and not the plethora of others is because you are biased on the issue. Period. the others don’t fit your agenda.
There are plenty of laws requiring offering treatments, counseling, ets.
And I call what you are doing spin. so?
Yes, there have been other rulings. Check out Texas and their ultra sound law.
It’s semantics, but a 30 week old fetus with legal medical rights isn’t a minor? What are they then? And even besides that an abortion resulting in a live birth results in 2 patients. But there are always 2 people in the procedure.
Orion, you poor deluded fool, it’s good to see you back! No one brings the misogyny like you do!
But anyway, back to the point - do you imagine that you are not equally dependent on those hordes of brawny environment-securing men to grant you safe passage through the world? Of course you are. And you and I both pay their salaries.
As far as what I’ve earned and not earned I would posit to you that I, doing nothing more than prettily packing picnic baskets and minding my children, secure your economy along with my own because in so doing I take a man who’s been lackadaisically providing for his own minimal needs and send him into hyperdrive. NOW he is motivated to compete at his top speed, NOW he is securing loans to start small businesses and acquire property, NOW he is consuming expensive shit left and right. Houses, furniture, good safe cars, pretty rugs and curtains with bedding that matches. We women not only MAKE consumer decisions, we motivate the market from both the production and consumption ends.
However, back to the tax-paying me; you’re welcome! I have no problem supporting armies to protect you as you bustle around doing your important PUA and MRA stuff.
Yeah well, I would refer you to Chinweizu´s “Anatomy of female power” which shows how women wield power covertly in a patriarchy.
Those 80 year old women let the boys play and compete for resources, shiny objects and a pat on the head, but behind the scenes they actually had quite a lot to say.
FIY, it was them that enforced sexual mores and they knew why.
