Wouldn’t work. My head would explode long before deracination occurred, much less before I could be sexlessly zombified and amalgamated.
We’re going to need something stronger than Imagine. I nominate this one:
Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism
But we still got terrorists here livin’
In the USA, the big CIA
The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK
But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate then you’re bound to get irate, yeah
Because if there’s one thing I’ve noticed in this thread, it’s that people are getting irate.
HAHAHA… good call @EmilyQ ![]()

False, false, false. How is this absolute, or even a rule? You can love an individual or group and not hate anyone! One can have exposure to one group, and not even deal with another group. And most people don’t hate people or things they’re not even expose to. Example: I love my wife. Do I hate all other women? No!

Then you only leave space to discriminate
Everyone discriminates. Otherwise they’d date or befriend the first schmuck who winked at them or the first candidate who walked in for an interview, regardless of credentials or words share. I can go on.
Even retards, toddlers, and morons discriminate.

And to discriminate only generates hate
False. I am discriminative, as everyone with a half a brain is. I’m not hateful.
Actually, the more I am exposed to that which I hate, the more irate I get. So at least this line makes sense. Most people flee, or try to flee, from that which they hate.
I did not watch the video but I assume those are lyrics from it. I have nothing against you posting the lines, but to me, they’re just more asinine words that have no basis in logic/reason and reality.
For the record I just enjoy the song because it says “where is the love the love the love”!! I think that part is fitting and funny for this post. Obviously this discussion is more intense then I thought (sorry for chiming in). You make awesome points!! Everyone interprets things differently and that’s why I very much enjoy reading post. I am all for learning the many different perspectives people have.
Brick, I think you read me too literally much of the time. I meant the post and song to be tongue-in-cheek, as a follow-up to the prior post. As in, “here is something that will NOT cause your head to explode long before deracination occurred or anyone could be sexlessly zombified and amalgamated!” Which I thought would be funny because really, who could listen to it more than twice without getting head-pop-y?
I do like the song well enough - my daughter brought it to my attention as “a social worker song” and I admit I dislike “people acting like they ain’t got no mamas,” and agree with you that there’s some truth to the idea that “when you hate then you’re bound to get irate” - but beyond that it’s just a pop song, not the political statement that best represents my views. Honestly, I hold too many opposing views for any one thing to represent me. Once in a blue moon it makes it to my running playlist, and I will joke to that same daughter about the two lines (no mama and hate/irate) if something comes up to prompt it.
So don’t get irate at me! I was just joking.
Chime away! That’s what the internet is for. : )
