Spoke too soon. Non essential services are being closed down over the next 48 hours. I’ve gotten my pipe and caps from Bunnings ($30) and I’ll get timber from work tomorrow. My guess is tomorrow or Tuesday will be my last day at work for some time.
Welcome to the party, we had some panic buying but only the first day, it was ridiculous what people bought. Now it’s pretty normal, the only thing missing in the shops are hand sanitizer. So If you can get a hold to that, do it.
If just everybody would, stay away from eachother 1 - 2 m, wash hands, cough in the sleeve, stay home as much as possible and not gather more than 10 people, then everything would be fine… but they can’t.
As someone who was late to the hand santizer party, a few days ago I tried to go online (primarily on Danish websites)….obviously everything was sold out.
But you know what wasn’t sold out? Isopropyl Alcohol and Aloe Vera gel. Which are basically the ingredients you need to make your own. Something like a 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 ratio. Should have mine in the mail in a couple of days.
Worth a look if anyone needs some.

Gag. The skids in the mall I used to do security at would drink hand sanitizer and other alcohol-based disinfectants. Just thinking about it makes me sick.
Aren’t some of those methanol? Hand-sanitizer isn’t kept in safes here, but if I don’t misremember even the products that are kept under lock and key and contain ipecac.
To be fair, we have a lot of regulations to keep the kids safe. But we’ve had plenty of issues with young teenagers seeking out “household” items to not only get a buzz (nutmeg) but also going for intentional overdoses (paracetamol).

Our government have outright stated that panic buyers should be ashamed of themselves. To you guys that might not seem strong words, but from a British government, that’s pretty serious criticism.
On a personal note, I’ve seen more old and vulnerable people break down in tears in the last week than in a ~15 year retail career. While people are still dying, I don’t want to say panic buyers are the worst, but I honestly don’t understand how some of these people live with themselves right now.
Me neither. What I’m still trying to get my head around is the toilet paper. If I was going to freak out about basic supplies, food would be the first thing I thought of.
Food is always the first thing I think of.
Although I did see a girl stocking up on 3 x 6 packs of jonnys yesterday.

Made the pullup bar at work today. All up cost $80, because I needed a little more timber than I initially thought.

Ok, so takeaways from this. This will be the basis for my three times a week upper body session.
The pullups I’ll just plug away at. Simple.
Pushups and pull aparts are fine, but I’ll take a video to make sure I’m doing the pushups properly.
The band lateral raises I’ll use two mini bands, to save time. I’ll also go to 75 or 100 for the AFSAP.
The diamond pushups/band rows I’ll increase to 50, and play with using the average band or use and band for each hand (maybe doubled minis or something).
Your strength on bodyweight stuff is pretty good! Especially considering that you are quite heavy. You definitely beat me any day of the week in those.
The only things bodyweight wise that I can do and look somewhat cool are all “dazzlers” like that yoga trick where you stand on your hands and plyos where you jump from kneeling to standing. The only bodyweight strength exercise I don’t look shit doing are push ups. Still about any skinny kid that somewhat workouts can outperform me on those. So in summary - I am very fortunate to not have to rely on bodyweight stuff during this epidemic ![]()
Yeah, I was gonna say…any pullups at 260 are good pullups.
