They’re all over Canberra. A lot of it is that weird shitty bodyweight driven machine stuff, but every one I’ve seen does have dip bars and pullup bars at the very least. One or two even have full on rings, ball grip pullup stuff, ladders, etc
Not bad. For the bodyweight stuff u got plenty of resistance lol. Something about having the fresh air would be nice. I recently signed up at a small warehouse powerlifting-y gym and I like to open up the roller doors and get the breeze going
Too much for some of it, until it is more muscle. I also realised you can build a standalone pullup bar for around $70. The timber is $4.7/metre from Bunnings and a 25 mm steel pipe at 1200 long would be under $50.
Dam not bad. I had a browse of home gym stuff and stopped pretty quick because am poor. Shits pretty expensive. We may see a bunch of horn gym stuff that was bought in this period go on sales afterwards when the economy tanks. Disaster profiteering it is
The weights are the killer IMO
Nothing has made me feel stronger than totting up how much I’d need to spend to squat at home.
It’s kind of cool. I will, eventually, have my own setup but it won’t be for some time. I’m lucky that I have a serviceable rack ready to go.
About the only thing you’d need is a Barbell and a bench probably, build your own rack and mold some concrete plates.
Man I look the fancy stuff. Brand name power bar, comp spec bench. I’ll accept concrete plates or maybe big as wood ones
You’re over thinking it. It’s a good time for a strongman phase. Find a big log and rock and go to work.
Woke at 260.1 lbs, looking similar to yesterday.
I’m almost decided to build a pullup tower. There still isn’t a lockdown here yet, but I’m pretty sure it’s coming and I mean, even if it doesn’t it would still be good to have.
The pipe comes to $33, and I need around 10 metres of pine. Retail for pine at 95x35 is $4.7/m so I think I can probably get it a bit cheaper from work. All up call it $75, fixings would be from work. I think I’ll use a combination of 75 mm framing nails (two are enough to hold a roof truss, so yeah, they hold) and chipboard screws for the rest. To fix the pipe I’m not sure yet, but it looks like it comes with threaded ends so either a cap or large nuts are an option.
Dam it’s even 3D and shit. Impressive drawing
Sound like a good idea, however if you’ve got a little spare money buy one of these

I’ve got one in the basement and it works like a charm
EDIT: or build a powerrack in 4x4’s like the one in @Frank_C log
Not only don’t I quite have the spare money, I can’t fix anything into walls at the moment. What I’ll knock together is just to have something during the lockdown I expect to come.
*sneaks out to go to gym
Believe me, if there is a shutdown and I had the option to sneak into a gym without getting in contact with anyone, I would. Except I won’t, unless Jake miraculously decides to give me a key or something. He’s already said I can borrow a kettlebell which is awesome.
As it is, what I find the hardest is the uncertainty. If we’re going to be effectively locked down, let’s fucking go and get it over with. I’m not worried about training, if I can’t train normally for a few months so be it, I’ve got my contigency plan. If I get enough time to knock together my pullup tower so much the better. I plan on getting that done on Monday. I might get the pipe and caps tomorow.
I’ll come out leaner, with as much muscle as before.
Must be a tough time being in those rooms where decisions are made.
Decide to suffer a tremendous amount of fatalities now? Or spread it out for years to come? It’s semi-possible to exhaust the list of possibilities with an overrun healthcare system (assuming that is the only thing that fails). But again: maybe it isn’t? If the system is allowed to be overrun, will people riot in the streets?
A lock-down has so many potential long-term consequences. And other, immediate ones that are hard to perceive. Spousal and child abuse will go up. Suicides will increase. Alcoholism and substance abuse will increase. Meanwhile, a financial depression will have long-term health consequences assuming people eat less healthily, and invest less in their own health. Education quality will go down, presumably, negatively affecting the competency of future workers.
As is I’m often alone in Iron Revolution anyways.
There’s plenty of uncertainty right now which has definitely contributed to the panic buying of stuff. Even experts are uncertain of much and everyone’s rushing on studying the virus as much as the vaccine.
Government’s gotta balance flattening the curve with not crushing a bunch of businesses and our economy too. No telling what the timeline is gonna be.
Being as cautious as is reasonable in the mean time and prepping like crazy for worst case scenarios like our flu season coming in hard on top of coronavirus is all they can do.
