Woke at 262.6 lbs, looking slightly less bloated.
Judging is different. I quite like it, and it definitely isn’t a whole lot of fun red lighting someone. Luckily I didn’t have to do that much. Fluffled a couple of things when I was head judge for deadlift (forgot the down command once, didn’t reset the lights once, did the down motion but forgot to say it once) but it didn’t cost anyone a lift so I’m happy. I’ll definitely do it again some time.
Should really do sprints at some point today but also don’t want to take further time away from family as I was at the meet most of the day. So I’m not sure where I’ll fit them in.
Did a compromise sprint session
1@50ish per cent
2@60ish per cent
2@70ish per cent
2@80ish per cent
1@90ish per cent
1@100 per cent or as close as I’m getting
1@90ish per cent
1@80ish per cent
1@70ish per cent
So yeah, there’s a reason I don’t normally do these above 85 per cent or so. Right hamstring cramped a little when I finished too, but that’s been brewing for a couple of weeks.
Neti pot or Sinu rinse.
Gold.
I’ll second the neti pot. I have awful sinuses and that thing has helped a lot.
Woke at 262.4 lbs, still looking not so bloated. Started using that sinus rinse stuff last night, hopefully it’ll help.
Todays training
Circuit: three rounds of 10 bracing hip thrusts, air squats and two sled shuttles with shoulder distraction and SuperD double band thing
10x10 seconds bracing 90/90
Squat
Worked up to
2x5x269 lbs, 10ish second breaks but racked and unracked so yeah, not really 10 seconds
Went to get my belt
2x5x269 lbs, this time 10 second rests
Racked it again. Something was majorly off
5x269 lbs
8x269 lbs
Racked. Fuck
12x269 lbs
Ok, so I’d been dreading this ever since I saw it programmed: 5x5 and then 20 with 10 second rests, which is pretty close to what provoked my head exploding episode. So I was genuinely scared, more of the fact that it could cost me a week of training rather than the pain. Except that wasn’t all that was off, because my legs were close to giving out from the first set. After that second set was the closest I’ve come to walking away, I was that messed up in my head. Either way, very far from my finest moment. By the time I’d gotten my belt I figured my best best was just get the reps done as close to Greg’s plan as possible.
Squat 21s
21x269 lbs
Head was a bit painful but nothing remotely serious
Front squat
2x10x132 lbs - hardcore sandbag but fuck it, and I’m not sure how well I’d have held anything much heavier
Band good mornings
55 - 20, 20, 15
Ring pullups
3x3 - these feel really good on my elbows and shoulders
5 - max reps, and this was max
All up an hour and 25 minutes. Not proud of today but glad it’s over.
Feels weird to like this session, but I know you’re smart enough not to be too fazed by it.
Thanks mate. Yeah, just a shitty session.
I got to admit, I sometimes suspect Greg puts stuff like this in periodically just to see how we react. Not in mean, I want fuck with them way but in a, I want to see how the deal with hard shit.
Which today I didn’t do so well with, but fuck it. I didn’t quit at least.
Mate you had a bad day and you found a way to do your job. Nice work
I disagree, you found a way to get the work done.
I’m pretty sure that’s basically what you’re meant to get out of those days.
Is that 21s like you do with curls? 7 upper half rom, 7 lower half rom, 7 full rom? Sounds awful and awkward.
Makes you want to try it, right?
Not gonna lie… kinda…
Me too. Damn commited challenge.
Woke at 262.8 lbs, still looking that bit less bloated.
@cstan097 @dagill2 yes, those 21s. Dont try them. They aren’t nice.
His head not exploding seems like a huge win ![]()
Greg’s response to my concerns: lol you’re fine, all that matters is that you fatigued your muscles
Woke at 216.7 lbs, looking a bit less bloated.
