Love this! I totally agree agree with all of that. we’re just here for a while and then we die so no use wasting time/energy on people that aren’t worth it

Mark I have the exact same issue with my amazing wifey. She cares so much about other people to the point she puts them ahead of herself (but not her own family). I find it very frustrating when I can see her taking on other peoples problems and causing herself stress. I am like ‘let them sort their own shit out’. Problem is this makes me seem uncaring and that causes her more distress. I have learned to just let her be herself and try and support her and keep my mouth shut.

Same. Except I mostly am uncaring so it’s a fair point

You could be my brother from another mother. The older I get the worse I am.

I’m the same way. My wife suffers at the hands of her family at times.

I tell her just to drop them. Forget about them. If someone treats me poorly then I don’t need them. Her response is “Could you do that if it was your mom or brother?” Yes. Yes, I could. They might be blood relatives but I prefer to spend time with people who treat me appropriately.

Maybe it’s a girl thing?

I do believe it’s a female thing. My wife used to carry around her family’s baggage until I finally broke through to her that they were the reason for her unhappiness. She’s swung around 180 and now let’s very few in her inner circle. Shes much happier that way, versus trying to keep all the assholes happy. All they wanted was for her to be unhappy. That alone would make them happy. There’s some terrible people in this world.

Woke at 244.7 lbs, a little bit bloated compared to yesterday but nothing major.

@simo74 @Frank_C @IronOne not just me then. Good to know.

It’s smart to be selective in who you care about. Invest in those who invest in you.

I live by this
I haven’t spoken to my parents or sister in a few years. I made a conscious decision that if they arnt going to contribute positively to my life and my created family, then they aren’t going to be apart of it going forward.

Hope everything is well mate

I guess I’m similar @anon96032531

I’m fine, thanks though. I hate seeing Mrs KO upset though, and I’m not very well disposed towards anyone who upsets her.

As I was on my way to the gym I realised I was hungry AF. Yay.

Todays training

Chad Aichs lower back stretch, Super D shoulder, band work and hand release pushups

Bench press
2x5xbar
5x4x143 lbs
10x143 lbs

Work sets with 10 second rests and I kept to within a second of that. Felt like my upper pecs were exploding by the end.

Wide grip bench press
2x10x143 lbs

My armpits’ turn to explode.

Dips
4x10 - ok, well 10, then 7, 2, 1; 5, 2, 2, 1; and 6, 2, 2. Kept rest breaks at three minutes

From my sternum up was so intense my ears started hurting, just like when you dive. That’s a new one for me.

Inverted rows
3x10 - back of my head joined my ears

Pushups
3x10 - ear and head cleared up. These were at the same time very easy but also hard. Like, pushups are easy, but doing them at this point wasn’t.

DB lateral raise
2x12x27 lbs - hurt my right elbow like crazy and very hard for my right to hold.

RDFs
2x12x38 lbs

All up an hour and 10 minutes, and my abs are sore now too.

When I do a hard session I get that feeling in my ears that you get on a plane at high altitude. Usually they start to pop in the shower and I can’t hear properly for a few mins !!!

Is that the 4 sets with 10 seconds rest and then a longer rest before the amrap?
OR all 10 seconds meaning 30 reps in no time?
Awesome workout Mark

Woke at 244.9 lbs, looking a bit less bloated.

@mortdk the 5x4 and the 10 with 10 second breaks. So 30 reps in what ended up being a minute and 33 seconds. I need to find a way to write it that’s clearer.

Todays training

McGill big three and reverse hyper

DL, stiff bar
2x5xbar
3xplate/154 lbs
2x2 plates/264 lbs
1x3 plates/374 lbs - double overhand held up well enough

Belt went on

4x2x451 lbs - first set belt was too loose. Grip want great on my right hand. Tighter belt helped on set two but grip still wasn’t great. Took my cuff off on a hunch and it helped my overhand grip a lot. Underhand not so much. Didn’t hurt, though. Major bonus.
5x451 lbs - that was my AMRAP for today. That’s all I got right now. Wasn’t grip though.

Deficit DL off four mats
2x5x407 lbs - fuck these. Getting down there was hard enough, by the last rep I had a legitimate struggle locking out.

45 degree back raises
2x12 with 44 lbs

Air squats
50 reps - easy enough in one set, then I fucking suffered once my body realised what had happened.

Pullups
Instructions were three sets of max reps trying to hit the same reps each set
5 wide overhand
5 shoulderwidth overhand
4 chinups - grip limiting here

All up an hour and 15 minutes

On another note, I’m in survival mode when it comes to training. Started when I went to deloading every fourth week and it’s most likely going to stay that way until the end of peak. From what Greg’s been saying he’s in a similar spot right now.

By way of explanation, coming off deload I feel fine, but by the end of week one I feel like I need a deload again.

It’s no big deal, it just means on any heavy day I know I’m in for a fight mentally and physically. I cannot fucking wait to peak though. I want to see what return I’m going to get on the investment. I’ll be happy with five pounds on every lift.

That won’t be enough mate, you’ve put in some serious lifting following that program to the T or as close to a possible.

But I’m looking forward to your meet, I hope you’ll be rewarded properly.
