Haha, I’ve been downing tons of sweet spuds lately, have added spinach into 2 of my daily meals, that stuff has my farts burning my own eyes.
Woke at 241.1 lbs, less bloated. Deload is working: I’m starting to feel refreshed. @I_Luc I can’t eat spinach for that very reason.
Also, yesterdays training
Band work (no pull-ups, elbows still tight AF), hand release push-ups
Bench press
5xbar
5x3x137 lbs
All up 25 minutes
Mrs KO kneaded the shit out of my forearms later, which helped my elbows significantly.
Where did you find oats with gluten in them? I didn’t know such a thing existed.
Mark, can you give a write up on how to use a monolift?
I know how to crank it up but cannot for the life of me figure out how to crank it down. I checked online and there doesn’t seem to many if any written guides. I am sure there’s others out there who also have access to a monolift but can’t seem to get it going
It’s a complicated one, they are naturally gluten free but they do contain a certain gluten protein but I think the main problem is contamination in processing.
What ever the case the difference in me consuming normal oats or the ones I buy that are marketed gluten and wheat free is worlds apart, not sure why but I’ve tried it time and time again.
Interesting conversation gentlemen.
Im on the fence with sweet potatoes. I have them in a meal on Friday nights, but I often feel a little flat and bloated looking the next morning. Although I don’t feel bloated.
Im good with normal oats. I haven’t had them for awhile, but if I have carbs in the morning its oats.
Im slowly re-introducing breads into my diet. Usually just for 2-3 meals a week. I love bread, but had cut it out almost completely after the recent backlash against gluten. I try to source high quality sourdough bread, although its hard to know exactly what you are getting.

See the small toggle at the base of the jack unit? It will rotate clockwise or anticlockwise, usually around 90 degrees each way. Rotating the toggle anticlockwise will release the jack and the mono will lower until it hits the pin (red, top left).
You need to rotate the toggle clockwise to be able to jack the mono up by cranking the large lever. Once you jack the mono up enough to move the pin out of its slot, you either keep raising the mono until the slot you want is below the crossbar (top), place the pin in that slot and release the jack until the crossbar hits the pin; or you can place the pin lower (no need to raise the mono) and release the jack, allowing the mono to lower and the crossbar to hit the pin.
I really hope that makes sense.
Todays training
Reverse hyper, 45 degree back raises, jumps (only just realised I forgot planks. Bracing and lat squeeze took longer than usual to click. Hmm…)
DL, stiff bar
3xplate
3x2plates
5x3x280 lbs - first two sets double overhand, then mixed. Grip is fried
All up 30 minutes.
In sad news, Elite Physique’s owners sold it to Club Lime (take note @painter27) so that’s me out. Lime is a local chain and I’ve had shitty experiences with them. They’re a typical globo gym, want memberships but don’t care about providing quality. They’ve (apparently) promised not to change anything, but I’m not going to hang around and find out.
I’m meeting a guy I know who owns a gym on Monday. I’m happy to pay a bit extra for a decent gym.
Oh FFS.
I go to fucking Darwin and the gym gets sold.
I’ve only been to one club lime and it wasn’t overly great.
That’s shit man. Glad you’ll be moving to a new gym thats decent though
I bet that you have had a bad experience with one of their gyms before. But if they are going to keep all the equipment that is there now, don’t have a lock in contract and prices are good. Why bother moving?
Look, business is business. My understanding is that the owners made a nice profit, they certainly didn’t sell because they had to. I can understand doing that.
What shits me - and almost everyone else I’ve spoken to - is that no-one has actually made an announcement despite the changeover happening on Monday coming. Nothing on Facebook, no email to all members, nothing. I found out when I saw a dude in a Club Lime jacket and asked one of the trainers.
Jez and Megan are going, they won’t deal with Lime. They’re the only two good trainers. Glen is staying on, he says, but I don’t know how long that’ll last.
Because I don’t trust them. There’s no guarantee that they’ll change things for the worse, but there’s a high enough chance that I’d rather get out on my own terms and in my own time.
The other part is that I do not want to give them my money. I’d rather move.
They are both very sound reasons Mark and I too like to be in control of my own destiny. Good luck with the new gym, I hope it is quality.
Sounds shit with your gym changing hands mate, best of luck at the new place.
That’s the reason I lift in my garage, all of the gyms within 20 mins or so are the 24 hour type full of treadmills and not allowing chalk, grunting, deadlifting loudly etc.
Sounds like placebo effect. Do you have Celiac disease?
This actually really annoys me, like I’ll come back from holiday go to get a workout (normally at unstaffed times) and then what?
An email about the change of ownership would have been nice
Thanks, I will let my digestive system know, then I can buy the cheaper oats again.
Woke at 239.8 lbs, bloating subsided some. I’m guessing the drop is at least partially dehydration.
Thats real pathetic
Hope they find a new job soon
