MarkKO's Training Log

Woke at 211.6 lbs, looking tighter than I have in a week or so. Winning.

That is interesting thinking. I can’t argue with you about the gaining muscles as you are closing in on 220, gaining mostly muscles.
And as you know, my last run on 5/3/1 where my bench got really low rep, is taxing the shit out of me. When I tried DL kind of heavy 1 rep it left med beat up too.
So I kind of gets the idea here.
Wendler has it too, actual. His latest work is all 5’s pro wich should give your 531 week lifts of 5 reps with ease, then back off sets, after two cycles he goes with +sets for one cycle.
So basically 2 months of high volume and 3 weeks were the last week would be a peak weak.
Your approach is much more specific at getting that fatigue, which lets the body recover better i guess.
Interesting I’ll give that approach a whirl after my next block.
When is your next meet BTW.

July 2018 for me. If you’re going to do anything after 5/3/1, I’d suggest Paul Carter’s Base Building (especially now he’s got a forum here). I wouldn’t attempt to program like Greg does, I simply don’t have the knowledge.

Goodmorning Mark just out of bed here in old DK
I wouldn’t try Gregs program I think. I like it more simple.
Have been looking at @Frank_C best damn 5/3/1 something like that or just the BBB. Will have a look at Poul Carters program though.
I just don’t seem to pack any muscles. Age, no I refuge.

Woke at 211.6 lbs again. Little bit bloated around lower abs, courtesy of dinner out I think (salt mostly).

Woke at 211.6 lbs again. Looking identical to yesterday (bit bloated, bit watery). Dinner last night with my buddy at an all you can eat, too.

Today’s traning

Bunch of leg extensions at 55 lbs, GHR and GHR sit-ups

All beltless today

Squat out of mono
5xbar
5xplate/143 lbs
3x2 plates/231 lbs
5x2x302 lbs
2x5x302 lbs

All sets at 302 lbs with 10 second rests, took around two minutes 15 seconds. Not quite as nasty as last week deadlifts.

High bar squat
2x7x302 lbs - do not like these. Fell weird AF and hard to hit depth

Front squat with squat bar
10x220 lbs

Bodyweight squat hold one inch above parallel
2x1 minute - lower back pumped

DB rows
5x10x120 lbs - these are getting easier

Back raises (45 degree as usual)
4x15 at bodyweight

Done in an hour and 15 minutes

lmao!

13 seconds make all the difference.

It does. Take that 13 seconds away and there’s a very real chance I would have passed out, missed the last rep or puked. Or all three.

Interweb police strikes again, those where not 5 second pauses, only 4 and a half
Do you rest the bar on the chest staying tight the rest of the body, or is the arms tight to. Does that even make sense.
Hope you understand, I’m about to incorporate those paused things my next cycle.
