MarkKO's Training Log

Woke at 191.9 lbs, looking pretty darn good. There may be something to this carb timing after all. Further to that I’m going to try having my carbs on non training days at breakfast and dinner only.

Glad to see you say you are looking good Mark. Others can tell us but it’s what we think of ourselves that really counts. Good work buddy.

Have you tried putting a swiss or football bar over where you do pullups? You can get a lot of different positions over normal pull-up areas when using different handles and might help your elbow. Just a thought.

Sort of. I’ve got two racks at the gym with either adjustable handles (swivel and slide so any width or position I want) and one that’s almost a football bar across the rack (wide overhand cambered a little like a pull-down bar; wide neutral; mid-range neutral; and close neutral). My elbows prefer the wide neutral out of all of those

And dinner. Getting that many carbs in one hit isn’t that easy unless I resort to somewhat processed food

Woke at 193.8 lbs but still looking noticeably good. No bloating, everything looking full. Even with no shave abs and obliques about as good as I’ve seen them. Encouraging.

At a birthday party for one of munchkin’s friends. Decided to carb the fuck up, because a) deadlifts tomorrow; b) nights start tonight so I’ll not really sleep; and c) Jeremy did say I could play with refeeds again and I’ve been looking good.

Most of it involved cornflakes and golden syrup in little cups. I had eight or so. Then a couple of small slices of cake. I’ll probably get in some more carbs tonight before work.

Now that sounds like some good eating. I carbed up tonight with a bowl of the wife’s homemade ride pudding. Yummy

Ended up not going as overboard as I thought I might. At most 1500 calories over, spread across two sittings. Plus, most of the extra is just carbs. Extra fats, sure, but nothing extreme.

Sounds kinky.

lol should have said Rice but ride sounds so much more interesting !!

Woke at 193 lbs (that’s after a four hour sleep two meals into the day, because night shifts). Actually looking pretty good, very very close to the last two or three mornings since carb timing after a normal sleep. So yeah, quite pleased.

Trained after work, after breakfast (usual night shift protocol) feeling rough as guts. This week is probably going to end up something close to a deload as laid out in Training Maximally, and this is in all honesty a good thing, especially leading into the month pre meet.

Today’s training - in and out in an hour and 10 minutes

Lazy lifter

DL, stiff bar

TM is 462 lbs

Decided to go raw, because there was no fucking way I was getting into any kind of gear. Decided to go beltless too because lazy and tired. This may well extend to squats this week.

Work up from 132 lbs in 44 lbs x3-5 to 60%, five pull-ups between sets going between wide overhand and wide neutral - now these felt amazing, and I mean properly amazing. It’s like suddenly I can do fives getting my chest right to the bar and it just feels great, with a controlled descent and a dead hang between reps. Major win.

2x319 lbs, under 6 RPE, hook grip - split the lowest joint of my left index finger in the usual spot, and it got bloodier throughout the pulls. Blood is stickier than water though, so all good.
1x368 lbs, under 6 RPE, hook grip
1x412 lbs, under 6 RPE, hook grip
1x462 lbs, 6 RPE, hook grip - hips came up a little early for my tastes. Beltless today seems to have combined with abs just not switching on, and I’ll blame being tired AF for that
1x462 lbs, 6 RPE, mixed grip - fucking eeeeew mixed grip. Hips came up a bit early again.
0x511 lbs, hook grip - just got pulled out of position at the start, grip wasn’t an issue. Phoned it in and abs and back were totally absent so probably a good thing I didn’t move it.

Low box squats, beltless, standard bar, in socks (seriously couldn’t be bothered with even putting my squat shoes on)
Work up from bar to 352 lbs in triples in 44 lbs jumps without rest - took nine minutes 50 seconds and top triple was around 8 RPE which I’ll take

Some STBs (five or six-ish) with dead hangs in between

Not really a bad session. Got the important stuff done, back was fine pulling beltless with semi respectable weight and box squats felt good. Pull-ups were the real icing on the cake. Tomorrow will probably be very, very similar.except bench, press and BB rows.

Shameless gym changing room selfies, unflexed

And flexed

Metal as fuck, but did you clean the bar?

Chalk absorbed most of it and there’s no brush so…

This is how hepatitis spreads or something lol.

Now it’s easier to tell which bar is the “good” one.

Woke at 192.3 lbs, looking similar to yesterday. Pretty happy with this. I normally expect things to go in the opposite direction when I’m on night shift.
