Marijuana Use

Not saying I’ve ever used strong marijuana, or any specific strain as it’s incriminating. However the first time I used the stuff was supposedly like 17% thc, waaaaayyyy too strong. I felt heavy, like gravity was pushing me into the floor and the room looked somewhat compressed, shorter distances seemed longer. I went for a jog because I thought it’d be fun and it was. The mildly elevated HR isn’t particularly noticable.

How often do you use? Do you use it alone or with others. The stoner kids I know do it alone and with others, I’ve never understood the aspect of doing it alone unless it was for medicinal purposes.

Long term neurotoxicity, and whether the cognitive decline (if it occurs) is reversible or not.

Yes, however I will say this, the feeling alcohol induces is typically more intense than that of marijuana in my experience, alcohol can completely alter the personality of certain individuals, marijuana doesn’t tend to completely crush inhibition like alcohol, however I’d say that’s a good thing as it equates to less fighting and risky behavior. I’d argue however stoned driving is safer than drunk driving (never done either, but both are horrific decisions for one to make and puts the general populace at risk)

I wouldn’t say recreational marijuana is good for you, not by a long shot. The kids who do it all day, every day tend to lose motivation and drive to do things (although I can’t say I’ve noticed I become lazy on the stuff, just dumb, hungry and I laugh at my own jokes if I have too much. Otherwise it’s just a relaxing, calming feeling, that being said I’m not a stoner and I likely never will be.) I just find marijuana, the social stigma behind it and the way it effects the body to be rather interesting.

My frequency of usage, according to medical literature doesn’t even meet the criteria for occasional usage lol.

I will say this though, compared to all other illicit substances I’ve seen people use and under the influence of, alcohol appears to cause the most severe harm regarding risky behavior.

And that was bud? That would also be stronger than any bud I’ve ever had. No wonder you had a bad first experience. You basically learned how to drive with a Ferrari.

5-6 days a week. Wife self administers for anxiety and I do for rec purposes.

Itd be near impossible to actually study this today. We’d need a run of legal (and controlled and trackable potency) weed to even study it.

Agreed.

Absolutely safer, but equally absolutely shouldn’t be done anyways. Stoned driving should be considered drunk driving imo. Zero excuse for it.

Nor would I. It’s not a good thing to put not oxygen in your lungs.

I actually didn’t have a bad experience the first time, it was a nice experience. It was just very strong and I couldn’t believe people managed to function normally on the stuff if they felt like that 24/7

Would you say the frequency of you’re use has affected you’re motivation and drive for life/adventure? Do you think you’re cognitive function has been adversely affected

Finally (personal, but curious) are you able to work full time using so frequently?

@pfury

Yes, in a positive way.

I’m a homebody introvert kinda guy. While I don’t administer for medical reasons, I notice I’m definitely more tolerant of people in public.

I currently work 40-50 hours a week in the analytics dept of a staffing company that almost exclusively services fortune 500 companies.

Fwiw, I never use when I’m working. It’s an evening/weekend thing.

If you had continued smoking you would have developed a tolerance.

I’ve never been higher in my life (the way I felt at the time, probably not literally) than the 2nd time I ever smoked.

I do use, just rarely, thus no tolerance develops, and presumably never will.

I’ve never been a regular user. My pattern of use is rather sporadic, unpredictable. I have no issues/quealms with using, I just don’t feel like using it frequently, nor does it fit in with my schedule (and I know it’s bad for me, and I generally like to keep vices to a minimum, given the research I’m not concerned about the compounds effect on my my overall brain development (the studies indicating a drop in IQ with young kids actually failed to include socioeconomic status and education as a factor), but the potential effects on motivation are very concerning. If the stars align and I’m with a friend, we both feel like doing something stupid and irresponsible, I have no responsibilities required for the ENTIRE day nor am I required to drive for the next two days and I’m in a safe environment then sure. As you see these are a lot of variables that have to line up for me to go ahead.

I find the substance interesting due to the sociopolitical but I’m not particularly interested in regular use (aside from CBD if I could get it. In Aus it’s not sold though and it’s a controlled substance)

I find it interesting due to the vastly differing social, medical and political perspectives on the drug, the effects it has on the body (both studied and unstudied due to lack of research) and its potential value for use as a therapeutic agent to relieve a wide variety of medical pathology that in theory could be a hell of a lot safer than a ton of the current pharmaceuticals available.

You would probably have the best experience using either wax or oil and smoking it in low quantities. Much easier to control that way.

When I look at the many implications of all of the above, I just tend to end up sad. It’s mind boggling how many millions of people have had their lives ruined over this ‘lesser than alcohol’ substance.

Agreed. I think that’ll be it’s biggest saving grace when all is said and done

I was recently at one of those 4/20 protest rally things to show my support with regard to ending prohibition. I didn’t partake in the public drug use aspect as I wasn’t in the mood (nor did I feel it was a safe environment, as how would I have gotten back to the house in which I was staying if God forbid I had a bad experience), supposedly in one state they arrested a 15 y/o girl over posession of cannabis. The girl, like a dumbass teenager spat in the cops face and the cop (also a girl) punched the kid in the face, causing the mob of stoners to start following the cop, I wasn’t at this rally, however supposedly it was quite tense.

Ehh I’ll just stick with the flower part of the plant. My best friend (in the states) took two hits off something that had 90 percent THC and lost reality. I’ve also seen other teenagers (most of whom had issues with child abuse or other psychiatric disorders) experience acute psychosis from very potent marijuana, wax/oil is too hardcore for my liking.

That’s understandable. That’s how most people smoke if they’re not regular users.

The thing that kinda has to come with experience is the dosing. Your friend was likely used to ripping bongs or some such, and forgot that wax/oil typically have 8-10x the potency.

I’ll regularly go 6 hours and only take 2 hits from my pen. It’s just a self-control / learning thing

@pfury , your knowledge of marijuana impresses me, and @unreal24278 , your knowledge of every freakin’ chemical in pretty much everything is pretty awesome. Kudos to you both.

Haha I’m nothin man. You should meet my sister. She spent 6 months working on a pot farm a few years ago and recently moved to Michigan to work as essentially an SME for weed at a dispensary
Edit:

And she’s 24. Just a hella stoner lol

We have 30% strains available in MA for retail purchase. Its not 0% CBD however.

Shit really? That’s insane to be able to get otc. Best I can get from Michigan is like 14%

Have you tried it? Tried anything derived from it?

@unreal24278 I believe pfury answered a lot of your questions and based on your initial statement I dont meet your criteria as I only use weed a few times a month. But let me dispell a few things you said:

  1. Not all pot makes you want to do nothing. I love the functional day time weeds that are lower THC and higher CBD. They keep me focused and motivated. Its more of a head high than body if that makes sense.
  2. You can pick up a flower vaporizer for under $100 but for a nice one yeah you could spend a few hundred bucks on like the PAX 3 (I did buy a PAX 2) but not necessary.
  3. The stigma exists but it is quickly fading as things open up here in MA conversation is more open and I find out that most of the people around me at work and life are users and have used for years. You’d never know it. They grow, they smoke, they vape, they make high quality edibles you can trust etc. These are engineers and scientists. Things are changing.

I will say that the recent podcasts I listed in my log have a whole section on the effects of alcohol and THC on sleep and the science is not good. Much like sleeping pills the two drugs knock you out for the most part and you dont get the benefits of actual sleep cycles like repair and maintenance of the bodily systems.

I will also add that marijuana use prior to jujitsu training is very common according to Joe Rogan.

the criteria for regular use was 1x/month + (in my definition), according to some literature I looked at, more often than occasional use is any person who has used more than 10x/month at any period in their life). So the unreal classification and the literature classification differs slightly.

I just looked it up, there’s supposedly a strain grown on Oregon that tested 37% with non detectable amts of CBD… terrifying…

Somehow doubt there’s much therapeutic use for that lol… Aside from potentially stimulating appetite in malnourished or sick individuals. Even then, seems a bit much

This shop is 5 minutes from me. This isnt the strain I was referring to but close:

Brownie Scout
from GTI

28.8% - THC

0%- CBD

$60 - ⅛ ounce

terrifying…

Its all about intake. Much like drinking a 100 proof liquor vs a 60 proof liquor you need to take it into consideration.

It’s used mainly for what they call “getting stoned as fuck :upside_down_face: therapy.”. A buddy of mine has a strain that tests at like 23.5 or so, and he’s heavily therapied more often than not.

And somewhat forgetful. And gets lost very easily.
