Marijuana Should Be Legal

Zeb, please provide some peer-reviewed statistics or data to support any of your contentions.

How does prosecuting anyone who does not live their lives the way you think they should make for a better society?

Please, smoke a bowl and quit being a dick to stoners and queers.

WMD

Please provide some evidence that making pot legal won’t make more pot heads.

I know that this is a difficult premise for you to grasp, but it’s not about how I live my life…are you with me still?

When you debate public policy it helps to try to grasp the larger picture of how an action effects the greater good of society as a whole.

My advice to you: Smoke less…think more!

A) You made the assertions; now support them.

B) Everything you’ve ever posted on this website is about how you think everybody else should live and that your way of doing things is morally, psychologically and in all other ways superior to anyone elses.

C) Quit pretending you know what is best for the public welfare. (I won’t go into the concept of individual rights and liberties in a free society, as that would simply hurt your brain.)

D) Please develop your capacity for critical thought.

WMD

PS: Quit being a dick.
Best post in this thread.

I will not even eat candy or drink soda because I think it is bad for me; I as sure as hell ain’t going to smoke.
Well there you go; the debate is now resolved.
WMD wrote:

You may reveiew my 30+ posts on the matter. If you can’t find what you are looking for then perhaps I didn’t say it!

Please name one specific thing that I stated that says that my way “of doing things is superior to anyone elses.” This is a debate and I am simply giving my opinion on the subject at hand, can you say the same thing? Naturally those on the side against legalization of pot are going to have opinions. Are we supposed to roll over because people like you have opposite opinions? These sorts of personal attacks only weaken your own point.

Again, this is a debate. I made an assertion that pot should not be legalized. If that is pretending to know what is best for the public then I plead guilty. However, if that is your test of “knowing what’s best for the public” you have reached quite a bit further than I have thinking that you know what’s best for the public by arguing that a drug that is currently illegal should be legal! Are you an expert on public policy and criminal justice? Do you know more than those who are currently in power? Or are you simply expressing your opinion on a message board? Tell me which is it?

Please develop your capacity to separate a debate from personal attacks. Internet courage is rather loathsome!

WMD

Only on the Internet do we have this sort of nonsense…Ha

Since you claim to be a former military man I expected more from you.

Zeb-

Are you going to answer the question I asked you Zeb? How do you justify federal drug laws prohibiting me from growing marijuana for personal consumption in light of the Constitution? Specifically the 10th Amendment?

I never once said I am a man. And you have clearly never been in the military. You have, however, in practically every post I’ve ever seen by you on this or any other topic claim to know what the public welfare is, what most people in this country want and you posit the question “How will this, that or the other thing make for a better society?”. In fact that seems to be the premise of all your arguments. In fact, to paraphrase, your posts usually run something like, “These people who want this thing are only a small percentage of the population and because they are a small percentage, their wants and needs may be safely disregarded by us in the majority, moral as we are.”

If you don’t remember what you have said, go back and read your posts. And put the crack pipe down. It’s starting to affect your memory.

You have more that just asserted that pot should not be legal. You have also claimed that alcohol consumption sky-rocketed after prohibition without providing a shred of evidence for this; you have claimed that traffic cops are scraping potheads off the tarmac, also without any evidence; and you have projected that pot legalization will produce a sudden huge jump in the number of potheads (these are from your own posts). Are you projecting on this last item because the only thing keeping you from smoking weed is that it is illegal or are you exempt from temptation by virtue of your moral fiber?

I know that your brand of personal attack is to mock, deride and condescend rather than just be direct. I prefer to be direct; that’s why I told you directly to quit being a dick. I don’t have to point out specifics because all of your posts flow from the assumption that you are morally superior and more in touch with the people (not to mention the Lord) and that the rest of us should just take your word for it when you make some assertion. Really, it’s not so much what you say but how you say it.

If you don’t want to be called out, don’t be a dick.

Yep Yep i agree, definitely HOT HOT HOT.

You know ZEB all the other crap aside, i feel that there are deeper issues why some poeple are so passionate about MJ. You see cannabis is a plant used for many different reasons. There us a while segment of smokers that smoke for reasons of expanding one’s self, using it to reflect and learn what meakes them tick and why. I have always said that cannabis is a plant that does not lie to you like alcohol. It let’s you know right away how you are, if there’s any issues you have in life that you run from it will bring them to your attention right away and it will be up to you to adress them. I know of guys that smoked just for those reasons.

Friends that were stuck in bad relationships and could not see it but could see how unhappy they were, a little smoking and talking and the realizations they made were so profound they hit them like a freight train. 6 months later they moved on and ended the relationships that tourmented them.

MJ is a plant of many different faces and it’s literally unique for every user, unlike alcohol. One of the aspects of mental health it also helps people with is the shedding of mental baggage. If you’ve had a hard life, been abused, or feel bitter in your subconscious and it’s affecting the person you are today, MJ can literally release your pent up baggage in where you can literally feel like your mental health just reversed in age 10-20 years, and this effect for many is very pernmanent. It can relax, calm and put you to REM sleep so deep and refreshing you wake up rested like a newborn baby instead of the quality hangover from alcohol. And BTW any substance that causes a hangover is by definition addictive.

Cannabis is also used by couples. How many people live together in a state of unsaid resentment, hardly have sex with one another (in a ling marriage) and are oblivious that their partner is unhappy? The couples that smoke together can built great empathy toward one another, release the clamps on their mind that prevent them (men especially) from telling their partners how they really feel how much they love them. The sex that can follow and the sleep afterward is some of the best you’ll both ever have.

What about music? If you like music, really like to listen to all types of music, this will be an experience to say the least. There’s a reason why musicians smoke.

Like to read interesting novels? Try reading them when relaxed on MJ. The text will suck you in and 4 hours later you’ll pull your nose out of the book and be shocked how you didn’t just see the words, but experienced them for yourself. The same goes for watching a movie or playing video games.

It really depends on the person, what they like and such. If you’re a looser and like being a looser, you’ll just be a looser on Pot, but IF it bothers you that you’re a looser smoking MJ will really make it bother you, and that’s a good thing.

And this effect does not diminish with use, MJ is very consistant. After years of smoking quality MJ i still use a one or two hit approach one a week and that’s it.

You see not everybody by far, is a party smoker. In fact most MJ smokers are thoughtfull people with deeeper personalities, they usually gravitate away from stupifying things like alcohol. You can call them potheads if you want but it’s a little disrespecfull. ZEB, all you have to do is look at this thread, the people that made the best arguments, the ones that can make you think, the posters that presented their ideas in clear and resonable manner, are none other then smokers. Can you say they sound like dumbasses? Will an alcoholic put up such a good debate? You decide.

And for those that don’t know. Pot is not Pot. There are over 300 varieties of cannabis cultivated world wide. Each bred for completly different effects, some more sedetary, some energazing, some medicall and everything in between. The government would like you to belive THC is what’s responsible for MJ effects. While this is true it’s only half the picture. There are between 200-800 cannabinoids in the pant as well. It’s the cannabinoids in their different ratios and combinations that give the uniqe charasteristics to a plant, then comes the THC.

Also another thing to note is that recenty it was discovered that our brains are full of cannabinoid receptors. Hmm that’s interesting, why would we be filled with cannabinoid receptors? We don’t know why but they’re there, they’re the same receptors used to dock with your natural cannabinoids produced by your brain chemistry, isn’t in funny how MJ supplies the same EXACT cannabinoids? Think about that, what could be more natural. The government knows this, the pharmaceutical industry knows this, they fight it to keep it from you. They can’t patent a plant, but they can patent and make pills that resemble the plant and make $$$. Did you know that dupont would loose about 60% of it’s wold wide patents if hemp was legal? Hemp was used everwhere , even our constitution, flag and declaration of independence was made of hemp. Then Dupunt made synthetic equivalents that could be patented and a profit made on, see it’s NOT a conspiracy, just $$$$, it’s just business that’s why laws won’t change.

The young of today that want it legalised will be led away by the mightly dollar themnselves in the future and realise the world turns aournd money and profit and they’ll themselves keep it illegal.

MJ is a substance surrounded by alot of controvery that will not die and has not died, ask yourself why? And don’t default into saying it’s baceuse of people that like to get high, or pot heads etc…That’s too simplistic.

It seems that a woman can be just as obnoxious and disruptive to a thread as a man.

First of all we are talking about current laws. It seems to be the state which thinks that pot should be illegal. One has to assume that they are doing this because of the greater good of society. Why do you think they are doing it? Perhaps to ruin someones good time? No of course not.

I’m afraid it is you that don’t remember my posts. It’s also you that has taken this thread down several notches to include personal attacks like the “crack pipe” comment. It shows your frustration with facts and your inability to deal with a debate topic without entering into put downs. Again, it’s Internet courage…Either that or you have never been called out for your bad behavior…is that because you are a woman? I have no idea.

I posted several links in my over 30+ posts supporting my various points. However, it is certainly acceptable to post ones opinion in any debate, especially on an Internet message board. And actually so far you have said nothing of importance regarding this debate. All you have done is basically trash talk and give YOUR OPINION. Is that acceptable?

More trash talk and put downs. You are adding nothing to this debate and certainly killing the thread.

Please show me exactly where I have mocked anyone (other than you who has earned it) on this thread. If you cannot then you are lying.

You also prefer to be counter productive to any sort of good debate. It seems that many threads end this way on the Internet. There is a good exchange of ideas as we have had here with many productive posters on both sides of the issue. And then toward the end someone like you jumps in with the personal attacks because they have no facts to back up their argument. Predictable, but still disappointing.

Because you can’t there are none!

Point out one post where I have indicated this. Otherwise you are lying once again in order to put me down. Are you that insecure that you need to use a message board to “act out?”

That bible debate really bothered you huh? So, you carry that over to this thread and attack. Sad, but this is the Internet and people like you do prowl it.

Actually I think you read to much into what I am writing. There is no way to show voice inflection on the net. However, if my words somehow convict you then maybe you are guilty of something. I guess we are all guilty of one thing or another. Even Interent tough girls like yourself. Ha

And if you want to have a good debate, next time bring some facts. And also a better attitude! It might be more difficult than simply spouting off, but the rest of us would get quite a bit more from it. Also, if you really don’t like my posts you have a really good alternative- Don’t read them!
PS: “Internet courage”…that’s funny.
That is what you are displying. And you are coming off as nothing but a whiner!

The above is yet one more example of someone who has no clue as to the topic at hand. All they seem capable of are personal attacks. This is one reason why more people don’t get involved in the political threads. People like this have one goal in mind; to drag down the debate. (shaking head)

More like a fart blossom…

Zeb:
In our exchange you never mentioned anything about “teen drinking” programs in relation to the - as you say - possibilties…

However, we are talking about the rights of adults to choose.

But speaking of programs interdiction/education programs are 7 times more cost effective as this drug war so maybe we have some common ground.

I have to disagree with your contention that you don't quit a war after losing it for over 50 years.

If drugs were legalised there would be no profit motive so gang violence would drop drastically.

Your Russian roulette analogy is based on your irrational fear that the day people were able to take drugs legally we'd turn into a nation of zombies. One simply has to look at the effects these type of policies have in other countries to determine that this doesn't happen. I know that this is an inconvienient fact since it undermines the central thrust of your arguement but it is true and you can't force the world to fit into your rigid view.

Now no one has a reason to believe in aliens as thier isn’t any evidence so that is a weak arguement. However, University Professors, former government agents, and foreign political leaders have written books dealing with massive government scandals including drug trafficking.

The Politics of Heroin - Alfred C. McCoy (North Eastern Uni. Professor)

Profits of War - Ari Ben Menashe (former Mossad agent)

Called to Serve - Col. James Gritz

If you only listen to U.S. corporate mass media then that is all you know. And that my friend IS Propaganda! So therfore…
