Why’d you bail? You made it through the worst of it. The Complete Power Program is much more enjoyable from week 5 on. You mentioned improving your strength. You were on the right track!
Well next week I’m in the woods for a full week (deer hunting), so there will be absolutely no working out. This week is ‘only’ 3x3 @ 85% so technically I’m doing more than prescribed. I’m still generally following the layout for assistance though. Nothing against the program, it just seems to be quite similar to what I’ve been doing all year (that hasn’t quite given me game-changing results). I haven’t given conjugate a test yet, and I think hitting some lift variations hard could help me address some weak points that are currently holding me back.
Last week I did a mini deload though. Knees, wrists, and elbows were all pissed off from the 5x5 @ 80%.
You missed the best week: 5 x 6. I hate it.
I’m actually considering bailing too lol!
I’m going through one of my mental funks where I struggle to (or don’t want to) train 4 days a week with my current set-up. After reading Charles Staley’s article yesterday I’m considering the 3 full body days per week again.

I’m almost certain this is the first time finally trying paused deadlifts. I kinda enjoyed the suck of these. 455 was plenty difficult, so I decided not to go any further. I could feel my upper back losing form coming out of the pause so took 455lbs as my top set.

Haha, thanks! Clipped the rack on the way out, lots of lateral movement in the rep and a nice shake/speed bump at my sticking point. I wasn’t thrilled!

EDIT: Woke up this morning at 214.0lbs. That’s the heaviest I’ve seen in awhile! Two weekends of partying in a row, and now off to the hunting camp for the week. I’m going to be in a good spot for a before photo come January 1st this year!
