I was wondering the exact same thing. I’m hoping income is higher by comparison to account for the inflated prices. Here in the US you can make more money in California than in Kansas, but the cost of living is so much higher that it’s probably cheaper to live here.
The average salary here is a bit more than in the US and Canada (if I read correctly it’s actually quite a bit higher than in Canada) so that kind of balances it out. Not completely, but kind of.
Why must food be so damn expensive?
Just popping in to say it’s spelled “whisky” in Canada. Eh.
And baking soda is a very old trick to keep your potassium elevated. Hell, if you ever get a nasty cramp from dieting, straight teaspoon and you will actually see the effect.
Didn’t see. Did you like the Plazma? I know I miss Finibars…
Haha true, I guess I’ll just blame auto-correct.
Plazma is fine. I don’t think my workouts see the full effects from it (typically shorter with not a significant amount of volume). I just polished off a Finibar actually and about to go train! They are delicious.
I love Metabolic Drive. I didn’t realize how much I love it until I went back to other brands. Nothing mixes, tastes or bakes as well as MD.
I honestly eat MD dry right out of the scoop. I have not been able to successfully do this with other protein powders.

Better than nothing. We have friends over for the long weekend. So I’ll try to slip a few quick ones in this weekend if I’m not feeling too rough from the previous night’s activities.
Hey man I just squatted for the first time today and I think I was finally able to do that almost entirely because I adjusted my stance.
I had been doing goblets often testing my knee but I didnt actually play with my stance until yesterday.
But I finally did adjust it and found a pain free squat and today it was finally fine in the squat rack too.
Maybe this can give you some ideas.
Thanks for the encouragement. I haven’t really given much thought to changing my stance, but maybe tomorrow I’ll try out a few stances.
What adjustments did you find made the biggest difference for you?
Pointed my toes more forward rather than the super pigeon stance I was using.
My heels were pretty much in the same spot just outside of shoulder with.
My knee pain is on the inside.

Nice job @brady888, this was a good one. Sweat was pouring, felt like I got some good work done, yet not crawling out of the weight room like I overdid it.
I did go on the lower side of the weight used and sets hit, but figured my first week of this program I’d find a good starting point and start pushing a bit harder next week.
Question though; when you said 12-20 lunges…you’re meaning total, right? Not per leg…I hope…
We can work up to per leg
good work on the squats. Performance without over-stimulation is an awesome way to train.
What would you say pros/cons about Olympic weightlifting?
There is no con to Olympic Lifting.
Duh.
This is a fact I already know ![]()
@isdatnutty, @magick - haha, welll… I couldn’t come up with a PRO for it so I decided to leave it out! ![]()
Some people’s arguments for Olympic Lifts:
-
Creates Explosiveness - I feel a SGHP is a better fit for me for creating explosiveness. Worrying about ‘the catch’ simply limits the weight I’m able to try and toss around. Also, I can’t comfortably hold a front rack position with makes the clean movement very uncomfortable. Then there is the snatch…don’t get me started on the snatch…

-
Fun - I have yet to find a Oly Lift I enjoy. It feels like unnecessarily complicated lifting. I mean, if you’re competing, that’s one thing, but doing some of those movements makes me feel like I should also be standing on an exercise ball with bands attached to each limb. I’ll take some credit for this as I haven’t invested a ton of time into learning the Oly Lifts so I’m definitely not proficient with them.

-
Size/Strength - If I’m going to go ‘outside the box’ with my lifting, Strongman is what I’ve gravitated towards as it has added to most to my overall size and strength (beyond the typical “Powerbuilder” type workout, I know some people hate this term, but I love it and it’s my log)

I threw some images in there, because after I read my response it came off a bit angry and wasn’t meant to.
I am still making my way through my first coffee this morning, so my wits are still waking up…
On that note, what the hell are you olympic lifters doing in my log anyways?! Isn’t there a form check or neuro type thread you’d find more useful? shots fired

I’d say those broken or dislocated elbows are a huge con ![]()

The pro is the explosiveness but you’ve experienced a bit of that with SGHP. I like to keep my vertical up and the next way to do that is to keep playing basketball. That doesn’t always happen but I managed to stay close to my peak vertical by doing heavy power cleans and clean pulls (it’s the first two pulls and a shrug-no high pull). I think that training block proved that one does not need to finish the movement to get power gains. I know this is known to folks but I experienced it first hand.

Once you figure out how to do it then it becomes fun. It’s a skill. Part of you enjoys it for that reason alone. And there’s no feeling like the smooth and powerful movement of a good clean. Everything works in unison to move the weight from the floor to shoulders in an instant. I can’t say the same for snatch because I don’t do it much (loose shoulders and no room in my basement).
I’m sure it’s similar to some of the strongman movements once the technique clicks.
3 eggs from the grocery store and 1 from the farmer up the road. It is crazy how different the colour of yoke is…FYI they aren’t supposed to be that pale yellow colour that we typically see from factory farmed eggs.
Those orange yokes are so delicious! My in-laws feed their chickens corn and their eggs are that color.

I can’t wait until my chickens start laying eggs. Although (this may be for the Flame-Free thread), I hate egg yolks. I usually choke them down, I prefer the egg white.
I know, call me insane.
Haha awesome. How many laying hens do you have? What about eating them scrambled?
I usually just crack them in the pan, then break them with the edge of my spatula. Then cook them over hard so they aren’t messy to eat (unless I’m having them with toast, then I’ll make them over easy).
Oh, I almost forgot to flame you…uhmm, don’t waste those yokes…uhhh, wussy.
