@SvenG - Thanks Sven, it was a great day! I’m up roughly 8lbs since the beginning of the year, so I’m definitely taking up more space than I was!
@simo74 - Dive, trip, potato, potahto; and yes, that tire flip thing was a beast. It was fun in a frustratingly-difficult kind of way.
@whang - Thanks Whang! You weren’t the only one, if you have the volume on you can hear a fair amount of the crowd gasp as well. I got pretty lucky with where/how I lost my footing. I was able to recover quickly and without injury!
Great write up, videos and an awesome performance! Some of these looked way too light for you, mate!
I’m glad you had a great experience and I’m all in favor of you doing more strongman.
Also awesome to get a chat in with Mitch Hooper.
Thanks @Koestrizer! The weights were slightly on the lighter side, which was great for a first competition. That tire flip simulator was no joke though!
Thanks again, I was pretty surprised when I saw Mitch there considering what he was doing a week before that!
Well folks, I ended up gaining roughly 8lbs since the beginning of the year. This was somewhat intentional as I had room to fill out my weight class for my recent Strongman Comp. No future competition plans at the moment, so I’m going to take this time to get my diet in check and work in a little cardio, key word here is little. I woke at 220lbs this morning (lighter than I anticipated), but we are making our goal to hit sub 210lbs by the May 26 deadline (exactly 10 weeks from today).
1lb per week cut commences, meow.

We are very fortunate that my grandparents had some property (~100 acres) that we were able to sever a lot from and build our home on. We love it here!
Thank you!
The organizer sent out the final results and scores for each event. It turns out that first place was actually a tie at 75.5pts and I came third with 75pts! I really wasn’t sure what to expect going into the competition, happy to know that I belong (at least on a local/regional level).
Well, week 1 of night shifts is over. A tough week with two sick kids and now I’m starting to feel under the weather.
I managed to sneak in a workout, but the strength/energy was not there. I’m glad I got the work in though.

I just purchased Brian’s “60 Sandbag Sessions and Beginner’s Guide” from his website and decided to run a session.

Well, that was humbling. It was supposed to be 9mins and 4/8/12. That was not happening. I’ll trial that session again with the 150lb bag. My glutes were cramping up on the turns, and back/crush grip was fatiguing allowing the bag to slip to my lap.

This was a much better weight/distance. I wasn’t completely crushed, but my heart rate was up and my arms/upper back were fatigued.
Our son’s daycare had a COVID breakout, so it has been closed this week. Between working nights and having two boys at home during the day, my sleep has been minimal. This is my last week of nights until next winter.
