@simo74 - Thanks man, still grinding away. Not the consistency I would like, but probably a month or two out from setting up my home gym again which will allow me to be a little more consistent.
@alex_uk - Thanks Alex! I dropped OHP for a second bench day over 6 months ago. Just getting back into OHP now, and it seems that focusing on bench (and supplementary movements) has been good for my OHP. Thanks for popping by!

Hey whang, no specific reason really. I read the building a bigger back article for 5/3/1 and decided to give it a run.
Not really consistently running anything at the moment, though. Things are going great, but just not as much time at the computer as I previously had.
The real reason
Thanks Flap. Not training my OHP has been the best thing for my OHPā¦donāt ask.
Iām liking the Bench/Squat/Light Bench/Deadlift split.
As a brief update, I moved most of my home gym equipment into our basement and have it sorta set up. Enough to get a workout in, anyways. I hope to get a little more consistent with my training before too much longer.
Ahh gotcha. I dunno man, watched a few videos of swede burns recently and Dave Tate obviously has high respect for him so I got curious about 5th set. Although it seems youāre gonna have to have special equipment if you wanna run it?
Ohhh I see. I just thought that because Swede Burns was talking about board presses, specialty bars, and so on, so I thought it required specialized equipment. Obviously talking out of my ass about it. Iāll keep the book in mind and buy it when I need a break from 5/3/1. Thanks!
Yeah, he suggests using some of those supplemental lifts in the book, but has such a wide variety to choose from you can easily find something that fits. I would highly recommend the program.
Home gym is 90% complete. I just picked up my dumbbells two evening ago and brought them into my basement, just need to move them into the weight room. Iām also going to purchase 2 more mats for the gym floor and move my Airdyne out of storage.
Iāll try to get a photo up shortly!
I have been! My new job is very demanding, and I spend a lot less time sitting at the computer where I would often read/post on TNation. Then I get home in the evenings, spend time with my family (my little man just turned one last month and is keeping us very busy), and then before I know it time to prep for the next day!
Training hasnāt been very consistent, but Iām still getting it in. Running 5th set again. Hit 290 x 7 last night on the bench. I am using SSB squats for a cycle or two since my shoulders have been a little cranky lately. Dropped down to around 213lbs unintentionally and physique was decent, but the last 3-4 weeks now have been a bit of a mess nutritionally. Starting to soften up again.
Iām off all next week though and am looking forward to a break.
Good to see that you are ok, even if life is really busy. Boy turning1 is so exciting. They change so much from this point in with them learning new things all the time. Enjoy this time with him and make the most of it.
Not yet a dad myself, but Iām pretty sure all the dads here would gladly trade training time for dad time, specially at the age of your kid. Glad to hear things are going great!
